I have a blogger site that's getting 30k impressions per week. It's a video site. The problem is, it's making only $15-$20 per week from adsense. Would it work if I write contents that are completely unrelated to the videos? Contents that are targeted at high paying keywords.

I read that they are keyword that gets you ads that are worth $50 per click. Any truth to that? I figured if I write about a high paying niche (let's say $10 per click), odds are, I will get 1-3 clicks per day with that high traffic and that's still pretty good.

Just because you send people to a mesothelioma blog post does not mean you are going to produce a $50 click. You want to focus on the highest paying keyword topics related to the traffic.

Alternatively, you could capture emails from all this traffic and start promoting CPA deals to the list. This would help you diversify and increase overall revenue.

that's the problem. There is not really a product I could promote to that market. I didn't make the blog with the intention of making money. It was just a hobby and it grew bigger than I expected - 30k impression per week and growing. Today I received 41 adsense clicks so far from 2941 impressions but only made $3.49... that sadden me.

Why wouldn't I get higher paying keywords if all my written contents are on a more valuable topic?

I am new to adsense, thank you for your info

There has to be some way you could monetize it instead of adsense, but without knowing the niche, it is difficult to give you any feedback or ideas.

it's an anime (japanese cartoon) site. I simply get the episodes from hulu (so, it's legal streaming) and embed them to the blog.

I want to give adsense a shot first. I like the concept. It's so simple.

What else are anime fans interested in? Dig a little deeper to find some sub-niches that have products the anime fans might be interested in.

Heck, even some Amazon affiliate links to Anime boxed sets, magazines, t-shirts, action figures, etc... May not make you a ton of money, but it could add to your profits.

If that's the case then it seems to me out of those 30,000 visitors per week, many would be repeat visitors coming to check out the latest episode. Do you have statistics on how many UNIQUE visitors you are getting week by week?

Either way, you are not going to get rich from Adsense with those small numbers. Your time would be better spent testing a few other offers/products that are tightly related to the demographics of your site.

According to my Google Analytics, I received 1521 visits yesterday and 63.12% are new visits.

I am not looking to get rich. Just a couple hundred dollars per month would satisfy me

You're close to half your goal with your current content and Adsense setup.

Granted, you may not get 958 unique visitors each day (63% of 1521) but thats still a decent base to build off of.

I'd say if you were to add a few more related categories to target those higher CPC keywords and maybe try some different products that are related to those new categories that you will most likely meet your goal.

Good luck...hope you reach your goal!

I think you can add some content related to videos and can add those high paying keywords into the content and monetize your adsense ad according to the content and this should increase your adsense income.

Out of curiosity how did you get that much traffic to your blog?

    Bit of advice OP...

    1. Change your site over to a self hosted blog pretty soon. You're starting to see some income from the site and I'm sure you dont want to loose that if Blogger gets a wild hair up its backside and deletes your site. Not to mention that you really should want to have more control over your sites than what Blogger allows.

    2. You say you're only getting "$15 to $20 per week from Adsense", to be completely honest that's not too bad, especially for a site that you simply stream videos to. That breaks down to $2 - $2.66 per day and you you also said you have some days that are higher. Seriously...for a single site that you do very little work on...thats pretty decent really.

    3. If you want to capitalize on the traffic then do as others have mentioned and find another related product to put on the site. You might have to do some searching but I would imagine that there is one somewhere.

You asked if there were $50 clicks out there...sure, there are higher paying clicks to be had. I appears you have kind of figured out a decent approach to making money with Adsense (at least one that works for you). Now do some searching for those higher paying keywords, use your current video site approach to build sites around those higher paying keywords and then continue with your SEO to build the traffic to those sites.

    Hope that helps, good luck!

I already tried promoting a product. Even a clickbank product that teaches ppl how I to make their own anime site to earn money with - I didn't make a single sale. Clearly this group is not very interested in spending money.

I looked at my adsese data and it says gaming type ads were making me the most of my money (and "make money online" ads second place). I filter out all type of the other ads to focus on gaming only, that didn't improve my earnings much.

I want to try focusing on a specific game to get targeted ads for....like world of warcraft. How exactly do I figure out if it is a good paying topic without having to test it?

Thank you for your time everyone

I'm not sure yolu can completely determine if a topic is good paying without having to test it but you can narrow it down a bit...

Try typing in your main keyword (in this case World of Warcraft) into the Google Keyword Tool and add the CPC column to the search results. This will give you some ideas about related teedrsm to target. I did this quickly and sorted by CPC and came up with the following info, please keep in mind that this niche isnt something I know much about but you can see there are targetable areas...

Keyword Comp. CPC # of exact searches

[buy gold for world of warcraft] 0.95 $5.76 -320
[world of warcraft gold selling] 0.79 $5.63 -73
[buying world of warcraft gold] 0.96 $5.63 -390
[world of warcraft buy gold ]0.92 $5.45 -260
[world of warcraft buying gold] 0.83 $5.32 -110
[cheapest world of warcraft gold] 0.91 $5.27 -210
[world of warcraft gold for sale] 0.97 $5.16 -1300
[buy gold world of warcraft] 0.92 $5.06 -260
[buying gold world of warcraft] 0.81 $4.96 -91
[buy gold in world of warcraft] 0.98 $4.96 -46
[world of warcraft cheap gold] 0.9 $4.82 -210
        [world of warcraft gold] 0.95 $4.76 -9900
[world of warcraft gold cheap] 0.94 $4.74 -390
[gold for world of warcraft] 0.9 $4.70 -170
        [world warcraft gold] 0.9 $4.65 -170
[cheap world of warcraft gold] 0.97 $4.62 -1300

The one bolded above is pretty decent on level of competition has a dacent CPC for teh keyword and gets 9900 exact searches per month....I think If I were targeting WoW I would write a few articles about the "gold" version (if that is what this is referring to), find some youtube videos and other forms of related content and build your content up on it and then input your Adsense code to attrack that specific group of keyword related ads.

If you didn't create the blog with the intention to make money out of it, then why are you worried that it's not making enough money?

Honestly, you've not told us everything we need to know about your intentions.:-)

I dont think the OP says this at all, I think he's looking for suggestions and help on how to better moneitize the site. I'm not sure what gives you the impression he doesnt want to make money on it?

Yes, at first..I didn't think this could make any money because I never thought it would be getting that many visitors. I was just doing it for fun since I've been into anime since I was like 9 years old (now 19). So I start to blog about it by embedding the videos to my site and write episode reviews. and so far this month, it gets 59865 adsense impression. Just thought it would be unwise not to try to cash in on it.

@Rsberg: Thank you so much for that list. But if competition wasn't a factor, which keyword would be best. Competition is not a problem since I am not getting those traffic from Google or any other search engine. Let's just say I've succeeded in figuring a way to get tons of free targeted traffic from that niche by thinking outside the box.

There are many possibilties here, if it were me I would start with the type of example I showed you. Do some keyword research and target those with low competition and high CPC. If you're not getting the bulk of your traffic from Google then the competition (to some extent) doesnt matter much so just stick with those keywords that have a higher CPC..then wite some articeles related to those keywords, find videos...etc etc and insert the Adsense code and take it from there...might take some testing to find the right combo but you've got one vital piece already (traffic) now you just need to find the combo that converts that traffic to clicks (Adsense in this case).

      Good luck!

Thank you. I just wrote a review for a clickbank guide about world of warcraft.

Does it take a while for adsense to read my page to give me the ads? because my ads just changed from anime to automobiles :/

P.S. How come the number of adsense impressions doesn't match up with my Google Analytics Pageviews stats?

I suggest you to change the place of ads on your blog. It helps you a lot. Also i think usually you should make about $40 per week with this traffic. So i want to say don't think that the situation of your website is too bad. Also you can try affiliate products. Maybe you earn more using affiliate links.
