Here's the deal. Few months back i finally found something i could make money at online... micro niche sites. Since then i've been using strictly article backlinks and social bookmarking backlinks and have seen my sites slowly climb the ranks, some to the 1st position. Let me also mention i've seen my sites do the google dance before and what has happened recently is not a google dance to my knowledge.

About 3 weeks ago all, and i mean ALL of my sites (16 of them) dropped between 3 and 10 position on google ranks. SOME of my sites including My BEST site which was in 1st COMPLETELY disappeared from the search results. All sites are still indexed but have lost rank. I thought it might be something I PERSONALLY was doing wrong with my sites, but lo and behold i noticed my competition's exact match domains ALSO DROPPING in ranks at the SAME TIME.

I've even gone over several old keywords that i researched before and remember seeing some micro niche exact match domains of other people in 1st position with MASSIve amounts of backlinks only to find them ALSO dropped several positions. This appears to be a wide spread across the board nuke from google.

My first question is is anyone else using micro niche sites with exact match domains experiencing this? If so, have you been able to start climbing the ranks again at all since it happened? It's been 3 weeks since the drop and NONE of my sites have moved an inch despite more backlinks.

Another question is whether or not this could be the end of exact match micro niche sites? If not i'm trying to decide whether the extra work that is going to be required now is worth the money being made. Don't get me wrong, i'm fine with it being harder but so far i haven't seen any of my sites improve from this drop in rank.

My next question is i really would like to expand my backlinking profile so i was wondering from anyone who does things other than social bookmarking and articles what types of backlinks you do and as much info or detail you could explain to help me overcome what has happened.

Again it's been 3 weeks so far and none of my sites or any of the other exact match domains i observe across the net have returned to their original positions (or even advanced ONE rank). So i really don't think this is a google dance. I think google has done something serious across the board that has affected all exact match domains. I don't think has anything to do with backlinks, content, or anything like that because i see it happening to TONS of other exact match domains. I think this is targeting exact match domains. What do you guys think? Am i losing my mind?

I think something is going on with exact match domains as well. I've had most of my 40+ sites drop significantly lately. It first happened at the end of October, and then again a couple weeks ago. There were a couple threads here with others having similar issues. Not many good answers presented though, other than "It's just Google dance", but that's not the case.

If one of the 'experts' would take time out from posting their sales pitches and come up with some real answers, I may buy what they're selling.

I have noticed a nice drop in serps for the month of dec on a few of my niche sites, however once I added another post and applied some amazon widgets to the site they started coming back up in the serps.

The ones I had drop LESS were significantly older, although they had around the same number and types of backlinks. The older ones have recovered pretty much with a ton of backlink building and adding 3-4 new pages.

I'm still working on the newer sites to get them ranked again... we'll see what it takes.

some of our rank 1 EMD sites dropped to 2-7, & some fell off the serps about a week ago.

Seen this happen before though, 2-3 months ago I checked Market Sam one morning and saw all red.

just social bookmark the sites and build more links... and if it's a one-page... either add more unique content or auto generate pages on the back end so it doesn't look so "thin"

Less worrying, more building... In true IM fashion

If you have had a drop in rankings recently do what I did. It seemed to work for me and my pages got back to top 3 in a matter of days of implementing this.......

        1. Go to AW Stats and grab all the keywords that were used to find your site.
        2. Go to Build Your Word List (no affiliate link. I dont even know the person) and paste in your keywords.
        3. Set the 5 options to: "no" "all" "3" "frequency descending" and "text"
        4. You will get a list of words and phrases from most used to least used.
        5. Grab the most used 2 and 3 word phrases and go to your page and include them if they arent already there.

Doing this took me 15 minutes per page and as I said, got my pages back to the top. All it took was to analyse the words and construct a meaningful and helpful paragraph or so.

Interesting I might give it a try. Personally I haven't notice much changed in my EMD such as with Burnaby Lawyers.com which have been hovering at 2nd for quite some time.
