Checking For DoFollow

Hi.

Been using SEO Quake / SEO For fireFox to find dofollow links. One forum according to the software is dofollow but on checking on SEO SpyGlass, the backlinks are nofollow. Wonder why that is?

  • Use Affilorama SEO Toolbar for firefox instead, they have a precise feature of determining dofollow and nofollow links.
  • I like the Firebug plugin. It's a web-development plugin, but you can right click and analyze any link to see if it's set nofollow or not. Very useful.
  • Nofollow is an attribute associated with links not with urls/sites. There really is no "dofollow" attribute, its just what we all can links that do not have the nofollow attribute.

    All those tools do is check for nofollow tags, and if it seems like a link is nofollow it will label it as such. What happens is that you will not get false positives (false nofollows) but you can get false negatives (nofollow but not labeled as such by tool).

    • Yes, they are useful but try to make a habit of checking do follow by manually looking at the source of the web page either you are searching for forum, blogs or anything.
  • I do not believe in this software instead I manually search for the blogs.This is the best way to do this.
