Now nearing the end of 2010, then we are all optimistic countering 2011. In the world of SEO, we have not experienced major changes this year, of course I'm curious what the future content 2011. In this article I will share with you some SEO trends where you can focus on next year.

Social Media Optimization

Social Media Optimization is the latest incarnation in the SEO done. Websites like reddit, del.icio.us and stumbleupon eKudos the Dutch still have a tremendous growth. If you are working intensively with Seo and you forget to optimize your site and promote it through social media channels than you will miss some great opportunities. It is very easy to do if you put on a blog you owned there are different social media plugins to allow under each posting various icons, enabling the reader very simple to place your article on the various social media websites, and of course so you can promote your own posts to. Google and other major search engines attach enormous importance to this back links and this SEO strategy will give a huge boost.

The speed of your website and On-Page Optimization

There are some webmasters that focus on the off-page optimization of their website now, rather than the on-page optimization. But in 2011, you must work with both, and the attention of the on-page optimization is not to be watered down. An important factor is the Load time of your website. Google, which is always working to improve their search engine decided to punish the websites that have a longer load time. Also, the incorrect use of meta tags into your website code will cause a negative impact in the major search engine's rankings.

The Web goes Mobile

Smartphones are everywhere worldwide in 2010 A total of more than 90 million smartphones sold. These Smartphones are all equipped with internet access and show the importance of mobile internet further. This trend will certainly grow in 2011. So, adjust and optimize your website for mobile use is a must. The problem is now drawn is that there is a lot of different browsers and smartphones on the market, and you can hardly optimize your website for all the smartphone's browser and testing. All these developments are currently still very much evolving. The simplest thing you can do is as much as possible to follow the current web standards when customizing your mobile websites. An alternative possibility is also a website aimed at the smartphone, as for the design of an alternative mobile website you should keep it simple.

Online Videos

Videos are indispensable in your SEO strategy. Websites like YouTube is one of the most popular video site on the Web today and is already bigger than Yahoo as search engine in the U.S. You can use a video site like YouTube for a certain keyword if you have a video upload. Always make sure that your videos always provided a clear descriptive keyword, just like you optimize a keyword for an article, you also have the title of a video optimized for your keyword. To make your video even better to find, you should be clear and have a specific description. So use in your video description carefully the keywords that you want to be found, and of course you start your description with the full url to your website for more information.

Google Personalized Search.

One of the major trends in the online search properties is the personalized search, and this trend in 2011 even more remarkable. Google, the largest search engine made the default option to do a personalized search. The personalized search results based on the user's surfing habits and previous searches. This is now no longer reserved for researchers with a Google Account, but recently is for everyone! So more than likely you will receive fewer visitors with Google searches, or you must own a greatly requested website.

Local searches

Since the release of Google Maps, Google has tried hard to improve its services by adding business data to Google Maps. This has become even today a formidable opponent of the Yellow Pages. Since 2010 Google also give results from Google Maps to its classic pages. Now when you choose not to use the local search on the optimization of your website, this is a sad fact. Expected is the only search results that are tailored to personal matters, such as interests, previous searches and the location where you are. This is a logical trend because Internet users are increasingly dependent on their smartphones, PDAs iPad. Everything indicates that local searches in 2011 have an even more important role and it's time to respond to them.

Well, a little outdated. Delicious is a has-been. Call it the yahoo curse.

And I can't say social bookmark sites should be considered in the mix.
Many are becoming nofollow and just junk.

Twitter and facebook, to be sure. Twitter is my must-have.

        Ahahaha Nice catch.

Have you been following Twitter's (Google) indexation rate of urls posted in there?

        It's pretty insane.

Mobile Search is constantly increasing, and while it is still to get a small percentage compared to traditional research, the rapid growth of the smart phone industry will be studied by specialists of the Web. They must understand the needs of users of smartphones in the form of mobile search and marketing opportunities they need to pay in this market segment.

Mobile search for me is very new trend as I am knowing about this from here only but, will search about this trend for sure. Today everyone is using mobile for business and other social networking activities and I think this soon will cover the market.

Some outdated info on this one since delicious is soon to disappear.

My prediction is that Google may place some emphasis on this at first and soon have to scrap it due to paid 'friending' and the like. I'm already seeing advertising agencies selling Facebook/Twitter 'viral' promo packages to clients and this technique will trickle down to the lower echelons of Internet Marketing quickly.

The big profitable thing here will be people selling those services, not so much those using them.

One that's been around all year and one that's been greatly exaggerated. Most of it is simply wishful thinking by webmasters who're too lazy/incompetent/ignorant to promote their sites properly by getting links.

If you have a branded site, optimize for iPhone, iPad and Android and be done with it. For a smaller niche site, don't worry about it too much unless you're specifically targeting mobile users.

This is another one that might cause Google legal troubles, especially since they're already facing investigations on how they're promoting their own services over competing ones. I predict there will be more problems for Google on this issue (and privacy issues) in the EU than in the US, at least until January 22nd, 2013.

This sounds pretty scary, especially the google personalized search. I think this will only make SEO an even harder place to compete.

Initially SEO was just more or less sending articles to top directories. Then more and more article directories popped up. Next social media sites came about. SEO people had to now include this in their daily grind. Then there was web 2.0 sites. Then video marketing. It seems the task just gets more and more arduous for an SEO dependent marketer...

When I looked through the Google & Surchur trends, they show mostly celebrities and popular events.

Until Tacoverhef highlighted, I've never known any practical use of Google Trends, Yahoo Buzz, Surchur or Twitter Trends.

Mostly of the trends are about celebrities, music, current affairs, politics and latest hypes.

Probably they are good blogging subjects that will bring traffic. There might some other reasons for tracking those trends. I'm very ignorant about these. What interest me right now is how these trends can be converted into $$$.

What I normally use are Google Insights, Google Adplanner, Google Adwords and Quantcast to look for popular trends in certain regions in order to develop the right niches, find the right keywords and get targeted traffic.

            Google Trends
With Google Trends, you can trend multiple search terms on a graph to identify seasonality in search patterns and compare terms on a global, country, and regional basis (yep, more people in New York search for the World Cup than the Super Bowl!). (If you know how to use this info to your advance you'll be able to make $$$ out of this. This go's for all the info presented in this post, that I did not write myself, but gives a clear image of potential to make money on the SEO site of this.)
Google Trends also shows you the top 20 trending search terms, based on percentage changes in Google search volume from historical traffic patterns. Hot Topics shows you the top trending topics on various social networking sites (Twitter, FriendFeed, etc) as compiled by Google.
There are a couple downsides to these trending topic reports. First, they now only provide the top 20 trending searches (at one point it was the top 100; their FAQ still lists it as displaying the top 40). Second, there's no grouping capability, so if you're looking for the top trending terms in a particular category you've got to hunt and peck and hope that there are terms that hit the top 20. That said, it's still a useful tool.
            Google Insights for Search
To answer the categorization issue there's Google Insights for Search. Here you can drill down to a category level, specific location, timeframe, and source of search data (straight Google Web search, news search, image search, or product search).
The image above shows worldwide search trending for the cruises and charters category for 2009 and 2010 (looks like there's a bit more demand so far this year than last). The top 10 search terms and rising terms are also displayed based on the selected criteria.
            Bing xRank
Bing has also had a crack at the categorization issue with their xRank tool. Here you can see celebrities, musicians (I have to admit that I thought Jamie Kennedy was mis-categorized as a musician, but a quick search proved me wrong), politicians, and bloggers.
Clicking on any of the terms shows a rolling four-week graph, along with key events during that time period for that term, as well as related data (e.g., biographical snippet, images, videos).
While this tool has some interesting data, it doesn't have enough to make it the be all and end all of real time search tools. However, if you use it as a starting point for input into other tools, then it proves its worth.
            Surchur
Search engines aren't the only ones that have free trending tools. Surchur is a tool that combines trending data from Google Trends, Yahoo Buzz, Twitter, Technorati, Bing xRank, and CNN to identify terms and topics that are being talked about right now.
Surchur allows you to drill down on each topic and see where the buzz is coming from, and what's being said on the different types of media monitored. Is the buzz different on blogs versus Twitter? What images are being pushed out to Flickr versus what's being said on YouTube?
If you're at SES New York and thinking about coming to the real time search panel, don't think that it's all been covered in this article. In addition to talking about search tools, there will also be some great case studies, perspectives from the marketing and journalistic side of covering real time search, and even an appearance (OK, a video) by several celebrities. Plus there'll four panelists will be able to answer whatever real time search questions you have.
