    Directory Submission is not more important nowadays.

  • Write articles on Ezinearticles.com. This site is great for SEO. Write a catchy keyword-rich title, provide some quality content in the body of the article and then give the reader a reason to click on your link in your author signature box.

    It is, without a doubt, the best off-site marketing technique.

    Also, social media marketing can help building brand awareness (just don't expect short-term results from it) if done properly. Blogging is great for generating leads to your website. And forum posting can be useful as well.

    You should be doing a combination of things. Not just 1 or 2. Pick 3 or 4 at least, consistently do them, and you will start to see positive results.

    • Those are typically no-follow links so they don't count. If done properly, however, you could get readers to click on your link from your blog. But blog comments aren't going to help you in terms of building backlinks for SEO purposes because they are no-follow links.
