Another PPC newb question - keywords -

So I first would like to start by thanking everyone who has been such great help with my questions eventhough they may be at a very beginner level.

My next question revolves around the topic of keywords for PPC. I have heard the terms " long tail " and " short " key words thrown around while rewind this forum but I must admit I am very lost. What would a "long tail" keyword consist of ?

If I were targeting a market on let's say home audio how would I establish the "long tail" keyword for the topic for my PPC purposes?

Thank you again everyone for all of the amazing help with my newbie questions

Again sorry for being so new to this but thank you a ton for the information. One additional question that I had is in the battle between short and long tail keywords what would be more desired? Or is it all a matter or traffic volume and what the price per click comes out to?

Its a little bit of both.. The short keywords will tend to be broader searches bringing in a less targeted audience... While the long keywords will be very specific they will have considerably less traffic... The real question is the quality of the traffic that you drive to your offers... Remember if you market to a narrow demographic and learn about them you will have more success drawing them in and closing the sale.

With ppc if I aimed for a more broad keyword would I still get some of the traffic on the more specific keywords?

Also, on average what would people say the ROI per click should be to make ppc worth while?
