How important is SEO in Article/Bum Marketing?

Hello,

I've submitted 23 articles so far in Ezine articles. I must say, that I'm doing great. I've made 74$ so far. I'm always looking to improve though, you know? Those articles, I put in no keyword research time and I didn't build any backlinks. Some say quality is king in AM, some say SEO is key, and some say quantity is king. We would all like to make 800 word extremely high quality articles that's completely SEO optimized, but that's not how it works in reality. I'm having a hard time deciding which one I should focus more on, Quality or SEO? Can I just rely on Quality?

Thanks

If you are targeting only article directories such as Ezine, then you don't have to churn out high quality 800 words articles every time. Your intention is to attract the readers to click on your link, therefore you need to get their attention and incur curiosity so that they click on that link. You want to come out with titles that can attract attention.

The point is to churn out 300-500 word articles and get them out there quickly. I am not saying you should write crap, but you don't have to write perfect articles.

As for SEO just do the basic like putting your keyword in you title, first and last paragraph and mayb in the middle of your article, and make sure they flow naturally. Including keywords will enable your articles to rank on Google too, and this provides an additional source of traffic for you besides Ezine traffic.

I think that even though you have found some success so far... You will have greater success in the long run if you focus a little more on SEO. Even quality will only get you so far.. I think you have the right idea of trying to find a streamlined way of doing this.. But you will find that the more effort you put in the more you really will get out of it.. If you want to make real money I would find a way to generate high quality articles that are SEO optimized as the extra time put it now will pay off in the long run.

My 2 cents for what it's worth.
      1. Never cut corners on quality it won't pay off in the long run.
I have one article as an example that has brought me over 6,000 visitors in 4 years. It also got picked up by a mid sized ezine that ran it in their publication. That one article has been responsible for a decent little pile of cash. It is a 500 word plus article that took roughly 30 to 40 min one time to write and brings me as many as 15 visitors a day 4 years later.

I also have other articles that suck, with maybe 500 total views in 6 months. But the point is you won't get any articles that hit it pretty decent if they are crap.

      2. Of course you have to seo your article. If you expect it to rank above the fold page 1 you better SEO the darn thing or forget about all that traffic. Page one #1 for a keyword that only gets 1k searches still can make you $20 to $100 a month for years (depends on what your selling and if it converts).

Think about this, lets say you get $30 a month on the small side from an article for 2 years that's $720 for 30 min work one time. Not too bad, not big money but it helps. And how many people do you know that make $1,400 an hour?

      3. Of course you have to back link your article if you want it to get above the fold page 1 that doesn't happen by accident. Then if you want it to stay there then you will have to pump out an article backlinking to it about once a month depending on competition.

      4. OR you just use articles for their links to your money sites and don't give a hoot if they rank or get you traffic.

      I hope that helps
