Do you ever see Facebook pages pop up in Search Results?

We all know Facebook is massive. But how about for SEO?

Just curious what others have noticed regarding Facebook and SEO. Do you ever search for something and a public Facebook profile, fangpage, group, etc. pops up Google's page one of the search results?

I ask, because, I have not noticed this at all. I would think that it would happen every once in a while but I can't really remember this happening. You know there are sites like wikipedia and huffington post, etc. that are always popping up in the search results for various terms, but I'm not seeing Facebook when that happens. I know that it's not like a typical public site and you have to log in to use it (I suppose everyone knows this, duh) but of course some pages are completely public and I would think are popular and you'd see them in the search results. Just doesn't seem to be so, from my observation.

Has anyone else noticed this or do you actually see public Facebook pages popping up in search results?

On second thought I should have posted this in the SEO forum, probably. Oops. Please move it if it seems more relevant, there.

I was watching a video from a FB marketing course a few weeks back, and one of the sections was about optimizing a FB page for the search engines. So I think certain public pages are visible in the search engines, provided they are optimized properly.

It took me a lot of time and money to finally make my first commissions. What did I learn that made it happen?

yes - as long as the content is open to the public
if it is "behind closed doors" (only visible to fans) it cannot be indexed...
i had one showing up in google within a day earlier this week - but i cannot tell you how well they rank yet (not something i do regularly)

I've never really seen one. I would think that google isn't interested in having them on their index at all.

  • I quite often see personal profiles (so long as they're not hidden from public view) if I search for someone by name. More of the problem is that so many people share the same name and have their main internet presence on facebook, so chances are it's not even the right person I was looking for anyway.

Look at this serp: this companies Facebook page outranks it's main site:
    Google

I've also seen an article of mine that was reposted to my Facebook business page outrank the same article on my main site, not sure why that particular blog post performed better when posted on FB
