SEO - The Final Push

My site is ranked high on the second page of Google for one of my keywords (#13 right now). Now, it's time for the last push to make it onto page 1, but I've already gone through all the conventional SEO methods: directory submissions, backlink building, etc.

So, my question is, when you are just below the first page of Google, what final methods do you use to ensure you make it up to page 1?

Do you just continue building links? Directory submissions? More site content? Just play the waiting game?

  • That entirely depends on the kind of competition I need to overtake.
    Generally the answer is: continue to build strong links.

    I usually aim for position #1, not page #1. Outperform your top three competitors, in terms of backlinks.
  • As orvn said.. its best to shoot for position #1... you will find the amount of traffic you get is greatly increased in the top couple positions as opposed to just on the first page... also backlinks are key... just keep building them forever until you beat your competition... just remember slow and steady is key... as long as everything looks natural you'll reach the #1 position in no time...

    I agree here with orvn, and we definitely want to get our
    ase on the top spot number 1 of the search engines.

    The first spot gets more click than spot 2-5 combined, so
    that should be a very strong reason to strive for more.

    Depending on multiple factors, I´d construct another plan going through at least 1 week, maybe more weeks of producing high quality backlinks.
