Why Articlesbase despite no-follow?

Articlesbase.com provides an extremely fast way to get an article approved and published online.

One of the reasons I like to use it is if I see one of my articles on Articlesbase.com get ranked on Google for a keyword phrase then I know if I submit an article to EZA targeting the same keyword phrase it will get ranked as high (in most cases higher) then my Articlesbase article.

So for me, it is the ability to have an article immediately online and generating visitors while I wait for EZA to approve the article I submitted to it for the same keyword phrase.

Additionally, Articlesbase.com does provide some traffic and I consider it one of the 5 required article directories for my article marketing campaigns.

I always put my articles published from Ezine Articles to Articlebase. Sometimes the articles on Articlebase gets higher ranking and "yes", they do show up on the first page.

As for the no-follow, Google still reads the url link in your article. So, it does pass link juice
contrary to what some may tell you. Just do a search for your backlinks at yahoo site
explorer and after awhile, you will see the links to your website from Articlebase.

When I do a search for links to my website on Google, I find the Articlebase articles are
shown. So big G does pick them up!

ArtcilesBase articles get republished in blogs with links to your sites. It has happened to me, I think is a WP plugin that automatically takes the articles, but they still have links to my sites.

And yes, I receive direct traffic from AB

Direct traffic, republishing and not all search engines pay attention to the nofollow attribute.

And it helps spread your reputation around the internet. No reason why you can't reference one of your AB articles in another of your 3rd party sites to build your online reputation.

Agreed, I see 'nofollow' as a MASSIVE red herring perpetuated by the SEO community. Do we REALLY think Google takes no/dofollow at face value?! I have officially begun ignoring this metric as not worth sweating over. A backlink is a backlink.

Several of the article scrapers use their database to grab articles from so it could get published on other sites. Some people will remove the links, but some won't.

Some of us have no interest in the "despite no-follow" part: I find that in my business, across a wide range of niches, no-follow links have the same value to my business as do-follow links, so since testing that as thoroughly as I could, I've entirely stopped looking at it.

"Do follow" only relates to the passage of PR

PR is now pretty much meaningless in G's ranking algo (my PR1 and 0 sites consistently out rank PR 4s,5,s and 6s.

Its about links, all different kinds, a good mix is what is needed, as well as the occasional xrumer blast..... hehehehe

Suppose your article is not ranked on the first page of Google, articlesbase still won't give you high traffic, right? In that case, you won't even have a backlink significance.

I'll provide one other reason with proof - please note I did not find this on my own as it was referenced by another Warrior (Adam Roy) in his WSO.

If you do a search for Free Business Cards on Google you will find that the 4th listing is an article that was submitted to Articlesbase.com on 10 May 2010. That article has generated 12.484 page views - I personally guarantee that a percentage of that traffic has made it back to the author of the article.

I'll take a percentage of 12,484 page views any day of the week from any article directory regardless of what is or is not followed by Google.

This is the heart of the matter. As I've said numerous times, I've never had a search results page pay for my dinner, nor has a spider ever bought anything from me.

Humans, on the other hand, have done both. So I put articles where I know humans can get hold of them...

Another reason is the ability to place the link in the body of the article. I put the link in the first paragraph, which gives a boost on CTR

The ratio of follow to no-follow is now a Google "signal". Sites that are too much one or the other are "unnatural" to Google and thus are penalized.

As others have posted, you still get readership, and traffic from your post, if it is good quality and not spun crap.

Wow when I came back from a walk I saw so many replies to my thread, thanks so much all warriors I'm always indebted to this forum and all you guys.

I will use AB from today onwards and I will see if I could see any improvements in traffic.

  True the ArticleBase article for the keyword phrase 'free business cards' gets high SERPS. But without the article itself being promoted, I doubt such high rankings would of been possible. It looks like the AB article was promoted via comment spam according to this Google search: http://bit.ly/hKU9nQ Most likely the author is using AB as his landing page.
  
  Personally, I prefer to build links using articles to promote my own site and increase its rankings for the long results... versus increasing the rankings of an article.

Main reason why I use articlesbase is that, a lot of people syndicating articles from this site. When an article is syndicated and reposted to another site, it includes the resource box so the authors link is being republished too, giving the author backlinks... I am getting a lot of backlinks from reproducing my articles without my consent and I don't care... as long as they post my link....

When I was very new to working Online and submitting articles I used ArticleBase and am still receiving traffic from submitted articles.At the time I didn't fully understand what I was doing,but I do now and will continue to use ArticleBase.Also with the understanding I have acquired in recent times I definitely agree with the comments in relation to not being concerned about "no follow".If the content is very good then people read and use the articles.

though it will give no-follow link, yet it is one of the biggest article directories people go there and search for the good content if your article is visible there and you have chances to get traffic on your website.

I've tested with and without no-follow tags and I've had good SERP results with both.

Makes me wonder why we're still scratching our heads about no-follows after all these years. If someone could show Google's definitive statement on no-follows, and clean SERP proof it would help put this head scratcher to rest (before we loose all our hair).

I haven't tried it but I bet if you search YouTube for "Matt Cutts Dofollow links" you'll find a vid or two.

Sam, it wouldn't put anything to rest, I'm afraid.

Just like the so-called 'duplicate content penalty', there are too many commercial products that rely on the myth for sales to the uninformed.

As long as there are scammers and marks, myths like no-follow and duplicate content penalty will stick around.

Because the whole point in submitting articles to directories is to get lots of traffic. Some of the NoFollow directories pass on a lot of traffic. Skipping directories that are NoFollow just to please Google is putting all your eggs in one basket.
