Is it worth it?

I've found a niche with exact domain match that has a cpc of approx $14. First page position 1 will be easy to obtain as the comp is very weak. However the search volume is not too clever circa 200/month.

Question is... is it worth doing? If I got 20 clicks per month I'd be happy at the income for little work, so what are your opinions?

    From what you are telling me I would say "sure" have a go at ranking for this keyword.

    Firstly, from what you say an exact match domain name on a low level keyword should be easy to rank for (just make sure it's a .com/net/org).

    If the competition level is below 300,000, then this domain should help alot.

    You'll probably want to put up at least 3 article once you have made the site and scheduale another 1 each week for 2 weeks after your site goes live.

    So in the end you should have 5 article + privacy and sitemap for your site which should do well for ranking for that keyword.

    I think it would be worth it as even just 1 click would cover the hosting cost for this and you can expand on other keywords if you succeed with ranking well from the first one.

    If you find you don't get the number one spot, then don't be afraid to rewrite one or two of your articles and submit them to Ezine or another High pr article directory.

    You could also try social bookmarking to get some trust early on.

    But yes, if you have had some success with ranking in the past, then you should go for it.

    • Many thanks for that, its much appreciated. There are other keywords associated with the niche, again with high cpc rates circa $8 - $12 (about 10 of them) albeit the competition is a bit to a lot harder.

      The .org is available, the .com is sitting on sedo and the .net is a 1 page adsense site that has no links of any importance.

      I'll give it a bash and see how I get on... just need to look at a good adsense template to utilise (I think I've seen 1 or 2 threads recently on here with suggestions).

  • I would go for it, however you should know that just because Google shows a CPC of $12 doesn't mean you'll get that per click. You won't even get half of that.

    I have websites in the finance niche where the CPC's hover around $15 or so and while I may get the odd $5 or $6 click, all the others are roughly at $1.5 or $1.75 on everage.

    You should get the EMD but then develop your website into something fairly larger than a normal Xfactor type site.

      Still even at $5 2 clicks per month pay for my hosting for all my sites.

      With regards to articles is there any recommended lengths or styles that are suited to adsense sites? Also would you keep it simple or add pictures, video etc?
  • Sure its worth it. It is practice, the steps, the speed everything you do is practice for the next keyword/niche.

  • 1. Don't use bluesense. It looks like a typical MFA. Get a good theme and then optimise the ad positions with a good adsense plugin like "All in one adsense and YPN plugin"

    2. As for the types of articles and length.. I'd suggest writing as much as is needed to put your point accross. You need to stop and think of how valuable your visitors will find your site. There's no point in getting a rigid framework and following it. Your niche will tell you what type and size of articles you need. Your niche will tell you whether videos will aid in providing good info or not.

  • yeah.. I'm aware of it. I started a thread about it around the same time as he did. I found out you just need to put a zero inside the donation amount box and it doesn't share revenue with the owner.

  • Hey Sharger, can I ask why you think this is worth it, if it only just pays for hosting? Wouldn't you rather target a phrase that gets 5,000 searches per month with a $10 phrase and work hard on that until it ranks and produces a passive income? Just curious is all.

      What I'm looking at here is a low search volume but much higher cpc than I've yet to achieve with a low comp. The related keywords as I have said are also high with higher search volumes/comp.

      So I guess what I'm talking about is less clicks but higher payout for a relatively minimal outlay.... and that is my question.. is it worth it?
