Keyword in the user name! What do you think?

Is it proves effective if I put keyword in user name in forum posting sites? Can SERP for that keyword increases by doing this?

    I'd say no because if you click on the username it just takes you to your profile. DEAD END.

    Although I use a keyword in my name, I'm not so sure its effective, as I do it based almost exclusively on habit! The name/anchor text point to something that is not your site.

    its good to use keyword in a user name field to promote your website or given a back link to your website from a specific keyword.

      Effective for what? SERPs? You have got to be kidding.

      Why is it people simply will not do what it takes WITH their
      sites, but can sure come up a lot of nonsense.

      You could come up with something better by being locked in a hotel
      room for 2 days getting drunk with a couple of buddies.

    For me its not recommended to use an keyword to your own username but use your keywords in a right place that will give you quality backlinks. hope this helps.
