I'm getting frustrated about this. So, yea, I know this can be a question for many of you too. Does Google see site with or without www as two defferent site? Cuz when I open up webmaster tools, they appear to be two different sites with different backlinks indexed. This is frustrating, really. I set my url without www originally to make the url shorter. Apparently some nature backlinks that are not made by me links back with www in it, thats why those links are index for my site with www, not the one without www.

Yes it is seen as two different ones. You want to decide which one you want to use and stick with it.

Then you can set it in googles webmaster tools.

      Yes, they're 2 different url's.

You can forward one to the other, and I think most, if not all registrars do this by default.

You can even direct them to two different places, if you want.

As Aaron says, choosing one and sticking to it is best, and then building backlinks accordingly.

I decided a while ago that the "www" adds nothing to any of my sites and I don't need it, so I now forward the "www" version to the plain "http" version and just use that, with almost all of them. Anyone typing it into their browser with the "www" in front will still get there.

It's seen two different versions of the same site. Pick one (I'd go with www because I'm old school) then use your HTACCESS file to set the 301 redirect rule. Make sure only one is in Google Webmaster tools, then search Google for your site every couple of days to see what's being indexed on your site. It should only be one version, either with the www or without. By the way, I've tried both and they both work exactly the same for SEO, so it's down to personal preference.
