Hi.
I'm still trying to figure out this link building thing. I'm looking into software like SENuke or magic submitter, but I've heard that links should be built slowly. Won't this type of software just get my penalized for getting links built too fast? I'd love some insight on this. Thanks!

This is the oldest internet marketing myth around.

You can't build your links too fast. If this were true, how would you decide how many links per day is too many? Is it 100 per day? Is it 10,000 per day? Is it 10,000,000 per day? Do you see where I am going with this?

If what you are suggesting is true, I could just go and link bomb all of my competitors so that they fall out of the rankings.

The best way to build backlinks is to build them consistently. Don't just build a bunch of backlinks one day and never do it again. Keep building more and more and more backlinks everyday until you see results.

      Yeh spot on.

Look both sides are only speculating.

Unless you work for google, then you cant really comment and say its gospel.

But like i said you can speculate.

I used to believe that link dripping was the way to go, because i had heard some horror stories about peoples sites dropping off the radar after excessive link building.

Now im not so sure. I recently purchased a large quantity of backlinks from someone on this forum called "SiteHoist". It worked great. It was something like 1500+ links in just a few days.

But if you do have concerns then use a service like link-aloha they let you link drip however many links you want per day. You select a max limit per month then divide those links per day.

You're probably fine. Chances are only a handful of the links are going to stick from the submission process when you use these types of services anyway, and the time it takes for links to show up will vary so they're not all going to show up at the same time.

SENuke isn't something to be messed around with, it's serious software with serious results.

It also takes a lot of time to truly master, so expect going in for the long haul. But as for link building, you'll be ok building links at a fast rate. There's no guarantee you'll be sandboxed, and there's also no guarantee you won't be.

Just remember to build them consistently and not sporadically. 10 a day is better than 100 a week.

Just build them naturally without any software, here is what I do, first day 10 links, second day 7 links, third day 11 links and so on...... naturally..

If you could build links too fast, how come The Drudge Report wasn't tanked to this elusive Google "sandbox" when it built around 6 000 000 ++ incoming links in one day for reporting the Monica Lewinsky scandal?

Potentially yes. I got too (fast) aggressive with my backlinking a couple times and wiped out two major $$$ making networks of mine. Keep it natural and make some $.

Good to know. Here I go off to blast a crap load of links to my competition and keep building "natural". According to your theory I should be in position 1 by the end of the day.

In a very competitive niche I'm in now, the #1 site is a major brick and mortar company. Once they figured out I had a profitable niche and decided to come at me, you wanna know how many links they received when they hired an SEO firm in November? Thousands upon thousands upon thousands - all or most links completely unrelated to their niche, and obviously done with automated software. Within 1 week of hiring that firm they went from page 2 position 5 to #1, knocking me off in the process. If I want to compete with them at this point using "natural" links I'll be back-linking until cars can fly and still have no chance against their software.

Not saying your sites didn't tank, but I am saying it had precious little to do with getting too many back links. There are plenty of reasons that automation software could have hurt your ranking - reasons that have nothing to do with link building itself. It is impossible for Google to penalize sites getting too many links or else we'd all be buying up SEnuke, Xrumer and Bookmarking Demon to blast our competitors and get them the hell out of our way.

Also, have you ever had a post go viral? I hit the front page of Digg a few times last year, once resulting in a brand new site receiving over 50 000 incoming links within 48 hours. That site is now #1 in Google, thanks to 1 viral post and the consequential blast I received from Digg.

Sorry, but I've seen cats come through this forum left and right saying that aggressive link building will hurt. I feel really bad for them and for anyone who buys that advice. Cuz if you analyze all the big dawgs, almost all are using some form of automation software to get and maintain top spots. If us little guys ever hope to compete for big dollar keywords, proper and responsible use of automated software gives you the ammo necessary.

I think I'm going to copy Peter's response and go through this forum to every post about "building links too fast" and paste it.

    Well said.

Kevin Marshall is 100% right, yes you should not stop after making bunch of back links and stop the all process then after, this should be a continues process
