Hello warriors,
At this moment, I have some difficulty in picking which kind of site I should build. Micro niche sites or authority sites? Can anyone give me some pros and cons, do's and don't's and some other tips on which can make my picking easier?
Thanks guys

Kevin

Example of authority site = lights.com that is broad and contains a whole lot of keywords bunched up together in a site that is updated regularly

MNS = greenneonlights that is exact and more specific and is *usually* easy to dominate.

I will have to say that moulding your site and yourself into an authority in your chosen niche is certainly more viable in the long-term. You and your site will earn trust much more easily by following this model.

Building many mini-niche sites can prove to be profitable as well but maintenance and the "personal touch" will be lacking. I will venture to say that it is more than possible for you to neglect some your mini-niche sites because your focus will be scattered.

Although you can initiate the process by building a handful of mini-niche sites, and analyzing which are more profitable and then work on growing the sites that generate a better ROI into authority sites.

Good point, this is what I agree with.

Ultimatley, you want your earning sites to become as authorivie and high quality as possible, as this will increase their earnings and also give them a longer expected life span in the long run.

That said, I have found building sites can be alot of trial and error. Some niches simply don't have the CTR you would have hoped, for others thier search volumes may have been less than expected, or maybe they were more compeditive than they originally seemed. This is the sort of stuff you may not see until you get your hands dirty and start targeting the niche.

To me, this implies you do not want to spend all your time building a large site initially, only to find after alot of work that you might not be able to monetize it as well as expected, so start by getting a number of smaller sites online and target a limited set of keywords with these sites.

By doing this you can also use a domain name keyword advantage to get an intial boost.

After you have a fair few sites ranking, you will see which sites are taking better to ranking and are able to monetize more easily. Then move a fair bit of your time into turning your best sites into authoritive, high quality resources.

Actually, I never thought of this. This means, I create a few mini authority sites or perhaps micro niche authority sites. Then if I see good results from one (or any) of the sites, then I start pursuing that one site... Sounds good.. Thanks!

I'm in the same predicament actually, but here's my thoughts. If you want to build a business that you can work on daily, build up naturally and create a passive income from that lasts, then an authority site is the way to go. If you're not bothered about a brand or working too hard to build up an authority site then a niche site is the way to go, definitely quicker but much smaller profits. I think authority is the better option, once you're a brand you have more opportunities.
