Change Article Category

What impact may be felt from changing an article's category within my site?

I am at a point where I could start adding additional categories to my site and some of the active, already indexed articles should be moved, based on topic.

My guess is that if the new category is not as strong as the previous category, my article will be deindexed and go through the indexing process anew.

Question: Are your new categories relevant to the old ones? If so, I would let them stay.

      Sounds appropriate, thanks.

With regards to renaming categories...will the SE's pick-up the anchor text or the 'slug/link' of the category? I would like to rename some cats, but not change the slugs, just rename the title.
