How Useful is Video Submisson for SEO?

The only video submssion site i can find that even allows a backlink is youtube, and even then they dont allow anchor text. The few others i have looked at dont even allow any backlink at all.

If this is the case is there any point in doing video submission to get backlinks to my site? If not, then what are the advantages of submitting to these sites?

Assuming what i've written above is correct, where does this put softwares like trafficgeyser now?

    If you create a video based on a long tail keyphrase in niches that are outside of the most competitive markets and put it up on YT the chance of you ranking well for that keyphrase is very good.

    That presupposes you have a website that Google gives at least a little love to.

    Here's the deal...very few keyphrases are targeted using video. I know it seems like most of them are, but the reality is there is almost an infinite number of keyphrases as a whole, and certainly every niche has more than enough to make capturing every good keyphrase impossible.

    In the smaller niches I target, my limited experiments using video to rank for long tail keywords has produced first page results almost immediately. The thing to keep in mind is that in crowded niches where everybody and his brother is using video for ranking purposes you still will need compete on a massive scale to get your video ranked.

    But in the smaller niches you may be the only one using video, and that gives you a huge advantage. And I'm speaking strictly using YT only here.

      Software like Traffic Geyser will always have a place so that people will not have to spend all day doing uploading.

      Pretty much like anything else, you can use videos to help you get some things to the front page of Google. In smaller niches, this can really help get direct traffic.

      I am not the Google maven, nor do I play one on the internet, but I would be totally surprised to find that Google gives as much weight to competing video upload sites as they do to YT.

    the best use is this..

    you can get a video on page one of google be it a youtube video embeded in your blog (or in fact your own player) that when clicked on the headline takes people back to your site not youtube or anywhere else.
