List of keyword phrases in table at top of each page? Opinions?

Hi all,

It seems the etiquette here is to not talk about our specific sites or niches - is this true?

I'm not an affiliate marketer - it would be hard for just anyone to reproduce what we do quickly and steal our "product", so perhaps in this case, it wouldn't be harmful.

The question I have is - is it ok to put a list of keywords/phrases in a header box at the top of the site - we have them coded with one <h1> tag, and the text is a significantly different color than the background.

Do you have thoughts on the effectiveness or potential negative effects of this tactic?

If there is no issue with posting the link, that would be the most helpful way to illustrate.

    Google could look at it like you are trying to stuff your site with keywords in which case you will be penalized, so do be careful about not getting caught if you do, do it. As for the case of people not talking about their websites or niches its for the exact reason you stated, although a lot of the forum members may be trusty there are people browsing this forum with malicious intent in mind that would love nothing better then to take your niche and make a few bucks off it.

    I wouldn't do anything to try to trick the search engines. Even if they don't look for it or do anything about it NOW that don't mean in 2 months they won't.

    Yes , those Cheats will make you No 1 in very Quick time period, but after two or three weeks you will be out, so dont do this
