My Thoughts of why people are looking for Google Alternatives

In the last five to six years, many marketers and affiliates continually ask the same questions - what are the alternatives of Google adwords? Why do they keep asking this question in 2011 while everyone thinks Google is already everything you need? It's because Google is not everything you need, not now, not five to six years ago, or anytime in the near future.

Only people who do not know Internet marketing would stick with Google forever. There could be two reasons: 1) they don't have too much time to manage more than one advertising campaign; 2) They haven't known that there are many other fishes in the pond! It's fair to say Google has a very high percentage of market shares in Internet Advertising market and they do work! However, I have heard many publishers left Google for so many reasons. As marketers, you cannot miss any single targeted potential audiences, so you have to find alternatives of Google advertising.

Now Google listed at top level as best search engines. There are amount of things why people like to use Google. I like most Google adwords which is really helpful for me. But It right that Google had changed it couple of days ago.

Any business that ends up in a dominant position ends up being unfriendly to some of its stakeholders. Unfortunate for affiliates this is the case with Google AW. There are other cheaper alternatives, however most of them are based on an Agency model whereby the media booking has to be enormous!

Given the huge hike in prices for Google adwords in recent years I would recommend using Facebook ads.

They are far more targeted than Google adwords and in general you should get a far better return on investment.

      I recommend trying them.

Facebook ads are getting more expensive everyday as are most PPC/PPV sites.
People want a Google alternative IMO because they ( we ) have been kicked off adwords.
MSN adcenter is a good alternative, but not near as much traffic.

No, you guys are missing the big one.

People ask that because people are always looking for the fastest, cheapest easiest way to make money.

In the information age most things change very fast. Advertising that works today might not work next year. Advertising that doesn't work today might work fine next year.

Facebook is certainly the new thing, but its a completely different way of targeting people. 3 years from now maybe it will be twitter that is the big thing for paid advertising.

Think about what it must have been like when people first started doing direct mail in the early 1900s. Then more and more people jumped on board. Now everyone hates junk mail.
Same story, different players. There is nothing new under the sun.

I have been reading articles about Facebook advertising. The idea doesn't seem to work very well if you are looking for generating sales. Their CPC ads mostly base on your own profile to display ads, which the content you are looking at is totally irrelevant to the ads.

People are suggesting to use the "like" function in the CPC ads, so that we can generate more "fans" to your own business facebook page and build up long term relationship there, and so on. I am not sure how effective it is as it's a long term thing.

Yeah, i have tried that...it's like no traffic at all. I still believe more traffic = more sales theory.
