At what point should you start seeing your backlinks?

I was wondering at what point would you start to see your backlinks on Alexa or Backlink Checker?

I am thinking that it may be several months before you start to see the backlinks you've created. I also read that pinging your backlinks will help Google to find those backlinks much quicker and I have done this as well, but I still think it may still take a few months for those to show up.

I have been gradually building backlinks to my sites, using social bookmarking, forum posts, and profiles links, but have yet to see any of them besides this forum listed when I check with Backlink Checker. And the Opensite Explorer software doesn't even show this forum at all for a backlink. It still has it as none.

So far, none of my sites are even in the top 100 pages of Google when I checked on each sites' page rank. Granted, my oldest site is only a little over a month old, but shouldn't I be seeing better results than this by now?

Also, at what point should I be able to see the backlinks I've created? I know some of them may get deleted from forums, but when should I start seeing the others?

Yikes. If it took months I'd be out of work!

    And pinging certainly helps.

At only a month old your site is a baby, Google has probably got it on the back burner for now. My personal opinion is don't fret about it, I know of no tool that is completely accurate when reporting backlinks and the time you spend looking for them is time you could be doing something pro-active like writing an article.

Let the backlinks and ranking take care of themselves and concentrate on improving your site, writing articles and getting more backlinks.

      Good luck with it.

      This.

Unless you're paying for links and want to verify that they're there don't worry about looking up your links at all. What are you hoping to gain from looking them up?

Well I'd like to keep track of where I have links so I wont be trying to create links in the same places over and over again.

I guess what I really want to know is how soon will can I expect to see my sites in at least the first 100 pages of Google if I am backling my sites every other day?

Someone said that it should not take months or they'd be out of business.

Download seoquake for firefox, or get seospyglass (free version) Yahoo indexes links much quicker than Google does. It doesnt mean Google doesnt know about them it just means Google hasnt decided to index them. To notify Google that your new links exist, try using pingdevice.com If you want to make you links more attractive to Google to add to their index than build backlinks to your backlinks.

    All good homie.

One of my sites, must have around atleast 2 thousand or so.

I just checked yahoo linkdomain: 144 backlinks - At one stage I think it was like 300.

It fluctuates because alot of those links are lousy. But who cares anyway? Just watch your serps.
