The aim of this post will be to collaborate what I am currently doing for an SEO Strategy and what others also do to create a simple 'Step by Step' SEO strategy that all can follow. There will be main steps, each with individual sub steps that will need to be completed to finish doing the main step.
  1. Keyword Research
    • Find a Hungry Market that you're interested in. This must be broad, e.g. Health + Fitness, Electronics etc (Use categories such on websites like Amazon to help find a Market)
    • Using Google Keyword Tool - 'dig' down into that Market to find a Niche. This could be something like 'Working out from Home". Then analyse this Niche in the Keyword tool and find a longtail keyword that has over 1000 exact searches /month and less than 100,000 competeting pages (have keyword in title)
    • Search Amazon, Clickbank, Commission Junction and any other Affiliate Networks / CPA Offers that relate to your keyword.
    • Once you have found things you can sell on that keyword try and register the domain name "keyword.com". Repeat research until you get a really good domain name
    • Find 20 other low competition longtail keywords that relate to your Niche
  2. Content / On-Site SEO
    • Using the 20 other longtail keywords that you've found - create useful pages / articles / reviews etc for each keyword and optimise the content for that keyword (around 2% keyword density, keyword must be in the title and the first 2 lines of the content)
    • For each page / article etc created this way ensure that the keyword you're targetting is in the URL, Title, Description and Keyword part of the Meta Tags - This can be done easily using the All In One SEO Plugin for Wordpress. Also ensure that you include other Keywords that you've sprinkled throughout your content in the keywords section. For example if you've written a review for the keyword 'Product Review' then a good keyword could be 'Buy Product' because that is likely in your content and is also very relevant.
  3. Social Bookmarking
    • Sign up for a free account at onlywire.com
    • Sign up to all Social Bookmarking sites you are going to use and put your user details into the onlywire software
    • Ensure that each new post / page etc is social bookmarked. I'd also recommend later, social bookmarking your articles and other things that you may have used to get backlinks
  4. Article Marketing
    • From your Keyword Research (or after doing more keyword research) create some original articles from some long-tail keywords that you've found. Submit all of these to eZine Articles
    • After the articles have been approved at eZine Articles, submit the article to articlebase.com and goarticles.com and any other article directories
  5. Video Marketing
    • Turn your Articles into Video by using powerpoint and reading the article other some key points on the powerpoint
    • Submit these videos to as many video websites as possible
  6. Blog Commenting
    • Find blogs that are relevant to your niche and provide useful comments on their posts. As your name use your anchor text (main keyword) and link it back to your home page. Thanks to dadamson for the following search strings to use when finding blogs to comment on:
inurl:blog "post a comment" "keyword" name email URL
intitle:blog "post a comment" "keyword" name email website
intitle:blog inurl:.gov "post a comment" "keyword" name email URL
intitle:blog inurl:.edu "post a comment" "keyword" name email URL
  7. Profile / Forum Backlinking
    • Find relevant forums to your Niche by searching for "keyword" +forum in google.
    • Check the forum allows signature links by looking in some of the posts
    • If they allow signature links, create a profile with a backlink in your profile and then make 5-20 forum posts that all have useful information and aren't spammy with your link in the signature.
  8. Guest Blogging
    • Find a blogger in your Niche
    • Approach them and ask if they'd allow you to write an article for them to use in their blog - all you ask for in return is two links back to your website (oppurutnity to vary anchor texts and deep link back to inner pages as well as your domain)
    • Make sure the article you provide them is really good, otherwise they probably wont even bother posting it!

I know there are many more ways to increase traffic and backlinks, but this is what I currently know.

Please, if you have any more tips to get more traffic sources or increase SEO of your site to get organic traffic from google then let us know!

I hope this helps other people as well. I'm just using this post to collaborate my thoughts on SEO and provide myself with an Action Plan of what I need to be doing.

Nice post. I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. People tend to get intimidated by SEO, but in reality it's just about building more high quality links than the competition.

Really great list you have here!
Especially #1 bullet needs extra care and research because it will lock your target and is a no-return point!

    Thank you for the info!

very much impressive. i think you have done the best job. if any one who have a site follow these step by step then its sure that he will see the result in a few months. even in one month.
i just want to say to every one that when you are working in step two don't think that step one is end. emphasize on step 2 but continue step 1 too. quantity may be reduced.
    thanks

In my opinion, this approach starts great with step one and then totally becomes an SEO approach, rather than building a site people love. It misses the whole point of building a website.

I've written it purely from an SEO viewpoint.

Obviously there will be more factors when creating your website such as actually providing valuable content etc.

This is actually my strategy for my review websites which, to be honest, don't have to be sites that people love. I am making them as factual and useful as possible and then directing them on to Amazon as quickly as I can. I don't want people bookmarking me in their browsers etc particularly.

Of course, when building a Niche blog website the game changes altogether. You'll want to slowly start becoming an authority site and people in your Niche actually bookmarking your website so they'll come back for more, you need to be building a list etc on these sites.

I've tried to make an SEO strategy as basic as possible to try and get some organic traffic. I haven't, however advised on how to go about building certain types of websites. I've tried to make this strategy as universal as I can to apply for many different types of site.

This is also only a guideline. But I do suggest when starting a new project to create a SEO strategy like this and give each action point a time-frame. This will keep you occupied on things that will advanced your website in the rankings and hopefully you wont be wasting your time doing a little bit of this and then a little bit of that.

Cool. Great info, regarding search strings to find great blogs to comment on, there are the ones I use:

inurl:blog "post a comment" "keyword" name email URL
intitle:blog "post a comment" "keyword" name email website
intitle:blog inurl:.gov "post a comment" "keyword" name email URL
intitle:blog inurl:.edu "post a comment" "keyword" name email URL

You can also mix it up to find specific blogs by typing "powered by wordpress" etc.

Also, I use seoquake to sort my results by Page Rank to really get some quality links.

There are really a lot of variations on the above so just mix it up and be inventive

    Cheers,
    Dave

As far as the bog commenting goes, are you better not posting a real human sounding name as opposed to a keyword to keep things natural looking. I'm sure many webmasters would delete any post with the author name such as "weight loss product" or "great golf clubs" to protect the integrity of their site. Besides as you dont always have to add anchor text back to your own site, this would be an ideal way to add to link diversification.

Very impressive explanation, the method you have suggested is really good but this is more helpful to get traffic not for ranking in search engine link Google.
For getting good ranking it require to do,
    Link exchange,
    Forum Classifieds,
    Press release submitting,
    Directory submission,
    Keyword submission, etc

Thanks for this helpful post mate. Just wanna ask though, do you go through the steps chronologically for every keyword you find or do you work on each step individually till you have finished for each keyword.

For example, you are targeting 10 keywords. Do you write 10 articles for each keyword, then move to bookmarking each article, then mass submit to article directories, etc. Or do you work with 1 keyword at a time by writing 1 article for the first keyword, then bookmark it, then submit to article directories, then repeat for the other keywords?

First of all I create all the content for my site.

I'll then target the main keyword, the one that is in my domain and want to rank for the most and do article marketing, bookmarking etc. Once I've done enough of that (until I get bored, see results, am at #1...) I will then look to see how my other keywords are ranking without any work and then see which of the other keywords I need to work on.
