As of now my Amazon Wordpress Sites except Comments...

I'm thinking about not excepting any comments and just have it as a static merchant site not a blog...

Good Idea or bad..

I get a lot of spam of course<=== my reasoning!!!

and i don't want to keep moderating

    Nobody have a thought on this?

    Will I kill my rankings if I don't except comments on my Wordpress Amazon Affiliate Sites?

      You can turn them off if you want. It won't cause any negative effect.

      However, there are cases where having them on will result in additional content and social proof for your site which can help. You have to decide if putting up with the typical situation where 98% of the comments you get are spam is worth it.

      One thing I've done on some of my blogs is to remove the field where a URL can be entered on a comment. This has the effect of blocking automated blog comment tools while allowing legit comments through with only the very rare spammer (who still gets blocked by Akismet or link filtering). Of course, you have to know enough about PHP and so forth to do this.

      It will have no effect whatsoever.

      The only effect that comments have is that they can look like new material to a Google spider...

      But a lack of comments? Many, if not most websites don't allow comments - they do just fine.

      I have one site that's been sitting at #1 for years... and I'd love to allow comments, but the work involved in keeping the spam away has forced me to forgo comments - but I'm still sitting at the top of every search engine for my keyword.

      I think it's a bad idea to allow comments - simply because this is a site you've made to make money for you - you don't need anyone posting something that might cost you money.

      If you absolutely must have comments - open your site for comments, post a gig on any one of the 'micro-worker' sites, and collect however many you want, then close down any future comments...

      That way, you have the best of both worlds - it looks like you've allowed free expression by others, yet haven't and don't.

      Just my two cents worth...

    I've got quite a few wordpress sites and I leave the comments on. It just creates free content on my site if someone comments so I'm quite happy to have free content. Akismet seems to take care of all the spam on my sites and I may only have to look at a couple of comments to see if they are valid ones or not.

    Don't do it.

    Always give the sploggers some false hope so they keep sending you free inbound one ways.

    $php_coding = "consistent cash";

    echo ("Give me" . " " . $php_coding . "!");

    Your rankings won't get killed but you just won't have new content added by users other than yourself.

    The pro to this strategy is that you have complete control of what goes on your site and you never have to worry about spam or stupid comments that throw off your SEO efforts.

    The con is that again only YOU have control of the content so it might mean more work on your part since you are the sole provider of content.

    I've used both methods but prefer to lock things down because managing spam gets annoying.

    Spam is annoying (look for good plugins) but like they're saying one ways and content cant come much easier then that right ? If you decide to go ahead and try it please let us know how it goes
