Optimizing the Home Page vs Other Pages

Ok, I will start by saying I'm not a SEO expert, but might be embarrased to say I just had a mental breakthrough but wanted to clarify. Is there any difference between optimizing the home page versus the others on your site? At first I thought I had to put all of my keywords into the home page for the entire site, as well into the specific site pages. This isn't correct is it? I should treat the home page just like any other page shouldn't I, in regard to titles, H1, meta desc, keywords, content?

Thanks in advance!

Optimize EVERY page. Stick to a 2-3 keywords (no more than 4) on your home page and mix the keywords up between the pages.

Remember, Google indexes pages and not sites. You are unlikely to be selling all of your products/services on the home page, so optimize each page with the keywords relevant to what you are selling on those pages.

Also, the title tag of each page should be different and should be keyword-rich.

Just so I understand how this relate to PR, isn't there a PR for the whole site and one for each page? Does Google take into account what's one the home page for overall PR or simply a calculation based on all of the sites combined?

PageRank is based on each individual page.
