What are the Stats for Amazon Affiliate Sites?

What I mean is,

what are the commonly accepted averages for:


1. Of the visitors to your site those who click through to Amazon.com


2. Of those who visit Amazon.com what percentage buy?

    I guess every site is different. These two factors will depend entirely on how targeted your traffic is, and how well your site is laid out.
    Targeted traffic will mean visitors who are actually looking for what you are offering as opposed to visitors who have just stumbled upon your site out of curiosity. So if they are highly targeted they are more likely to click on the affiliate link to Amazon.
    Once on Amazon, I guess it depends on product price and quality, but in my experience Amazon converts really well. All you need to do is get your visitors to get to Amazon.

    It also depends on the products being sold. People tend to do a lot of research before buying high-ticket items than they do when buying less expensive items. This will result in a lot of click-throughs to see prices but less conversions on the high-dollar items.

      This comes back to how targeted your traffic is..

      Do you want to capture the info seekers ("best porshe to buy"), or do you want to capture the people with credit cards in their hands ("Porsche best price")..

      This will entirely change the answer to the OP.

        I appreciate the difference you make between targeted visitors and random surfers.

        I've one relatively new site, quite targeted buyer keywords in urls, www.niche-market/product-model-name-review, only getting about 50 visitors per day at present.
        Over 50% are clicking through to Amazon, but not one sale in January so far.

        The products are in the $50-$100 range.

        I know it's very hard to judge but any suggestions what might be the problem or is there a problem - should I expect sales from approximately 140 visitors to Amazon in 7 days?

    50% CTR is good - so it's strange that Amazon isn't converting. What call to action are you using to get that rate of CTR? Have you got the prospect to the point that they want to buy before you get them to click? If not they may well hit Amazon and then just disappear off to continue their research. Remember the cookie life span is short and if someone else does a more effective job of referring they'll get the sale.
