Post earning articles to many sites?

I own web sites that publish news from different areas (IT, hobby, health,etc.). Every now and then I pick up an interesting articles and receive lots of visitors (and clicks). A couple of weeks ago, by mistake, I posted the same article on two of my sites and visitors started clicking on both ads (they didn't know it's the same article). Of course, I got more clicks/earning.
I got afraid that this is against Adsense TOS and deleted the article from one site. Now I am not sure if this is really forbidden.
My question is: if I suspect that a certain article will receive lots of visits/clicks, can I post it on more than one site?
