pinging help

Is there any free software out there that will let you enter a list of backlinks all at once for pinging ? all i can find is some websites that allow only 1 entry at a time. thats a bit insane slow.

never pinged sites before, trying to learn this stuff.

are there any important rules to follow for pinging backlinks ?

  I don't do it automagically but this is the steps I take. It'll put all your links in one place and then you can just ping it anytime really quickly. Seems to work for me
  
  1. Go to icerocket.com and sign up
  2. Click on Rss Builder
  3. Click on Add Channel and give that channel a name related to your niche website you have been building links to.
  4. Then click on add item. This will take you to a page, where you input the URL of a forum profile where you left your links.
  5. Do this for 20 entries i.e 20 more Forum profiles.
  6. Then click on Publish.
  7. Then copy the URL in the first box. URL will start like this
  ...http: //rss.icerocket. com/xmlfeed ... (sorry can't post links)
  8. Then take that URL and ping it at pingomatic.com and pingoat.net
  9. Also bookmark that URL at Digg, Reddit, Propeller, MisterWong, and a couple RSS bookmarking places
  10. Also URL to Google Blog Search Ping Service

  PingDevice works well for me. I usually get all my back links from a keyword tool, then past them into a spreadsheet.
  Then every now and then I copy them into the box on pingdevice and ping them all in one go.

so pinging is an online tool then, no software that will do this?

im trying Pingy out, looks like an overnight sortta thing takes a while.
