Are these directories even worth submitting to? I've submitted about 15 articles to the 13/20 directories that actually work on them and they seem very generic and only 1 allows anchor text. The others allow your home link but I feel like I'm losing some purpose by not having anchor text.

I manually submit to ezine, articlebase, and goarticles so my articles are getting SOME attention I'm just not sure if it's wasting time to be submitting them with the submission software.

Anyone have experience with this? Have backlinks been generated from these and is traffic coming from them?

    I don't like submitting my articles to a bunch of places, it brings down their values. I submit it to maybe the top 4-5 article bases, and I spin it and submit it to the rest of the lower quality ones, if I even go that far.

      Sounds reasonable but what do you base this off of? Comparison of separate articles submitted to only a few places vs some submitted to a ton?

      Basically what makes you think their value is brought down if they're on separate sites?

    Yeah me here too... but I wouldn't neglect this kind of a technique. Later on I can still submitting articles on a regular basis.

    Yeah like you said Im losing also purpose by not having anchor text link.

        the way I see it: there are 2 main reasons you want to submit an article to a directory in the first place:

        1. you want a backlink from a high PR article directory
        2. you want free traffic from you posting your article to that directory

        so there are 2 things you should look at when evaluating if these article directories are worth submitting your article to:

        1. does the article directory have a high enough PR. Will I get any juice from that backlink?
        and
        2. does that article directory generate a lot of traffic?

        So keep these in mind when you decide whether or not it is worth it.
