Question on Broad Match in Adwords

I think I'm a bit confused on broad match. Let's say I were bidding on the term: Farmers Private (as in insurance), I seem to be getting clicks for terms that are long, but only contain the word 'private' and not 'farmers'. So I get clicks like 'private hospital scan'.

I was under the impression if I am bidding on a broad match term 'farmers private' that both of those words would have to be a part of the search in some way. Is that not the case?

  • I was under the impression that you should be getting clicks from people searching for
"so on Private and Farmers and so on".. this comes as a surprise to me too - what kind of software do you use for tracking ?
  • Well, good question. Because today is the first day of using broad match I can't get Adwords to show me the exact keywords that are being searched (it never works for me the day of, only for previous days). So I am taking a look at statcounter to see exactly what is being typed in. It's easy to match up because there have only been 8 clicks.
