The fact that it is 10 years old is valuable, but the decision would depend on other factors as well - is it a niche you want to go into or are already involved in? Is there some other benefit to that particular site, other than its age? Do you expect to get a good return on investment for that site?

I would have to have to have a very good answer as to why in 10 years google would not have indexed it. I have sites with that out me doing anything get indexed in 2 months. And if I spend 2 minutes submitting the URL to Google it is always indexed in less than 72 hours.

Do you like the domain name? Yes, buy it.

Relying on that ten year age to provide some SEO awesome sauce? No, don't buy it. If it had awesome sauce it wouldn't be available for $25.

You must find out about that domain name first. Check at archive.org. May it had some content which was against Google's rules.

Don't just buy because it is 10 years old. You would like to monetize the website, isn't it. So why spend time if it doesn't generate any money.

Age is one factor, but its not main factor for good domain name. So, don't buy domain only for the age. Look at the other factors like the name, history of the domain, PR, and don't buy domain that getting banned by search engine, specially Google [ one of indicator that domain already banned by google is no index for that domain, not ussually, but a lot of them have this indicator ]. Good luck my friend

Why is it not indexed after 10 years? Is there ANY content on it? Or was there?
    Check on archive.org.

If the domain has a Google penalty of some kind you will NEVER get it re-indexed again. A site which is not be able to get in the index is not worth one penny.

Age is one of the 200 or so factors taken into account in site ranking, I have aged domains with no significant history that don't seem to perform any better. Some say you have to gently add links to a brand new domain, so Maybe you can promote an aged domain more heavily.
Also consider registering for multiple years to demonstrate a commitment to stay around, some believe private registration might harm ranking.

You can find lots of 10 year old domains in the godaddy auction, I just found 175 of them for $5 - $9, mostly .com, not prime names but plenty of age.

If it isn't even indexed after 10 years, then it's highly unlikely that it'll have much value in Google's eyes as an old/existing website.

Granted, $25 is not much more than what an average domain costs these days. What caught your eye about this website?

Was it the domain name? The content that is presently on it? Is it a niche that you'd like to get involved in, and do you have the expertise and enthusiasm to start on something like this?

If you're only planning on buying this to resell it quickly, then this website probably isn't for you. But if you have somehow taken a liking to it and wish to develop it to its full potential, then it would not be a bad idea to pick this up.

I had a similar question to what Smolodoy was asking... Found a few older sites that were recently deleted, or for sale -- if I check ismysiteindexed.com, or do an info: search on google they are not indexed, however if I check archive.org as a couple people mentioned -

Am I using the Wayback Tool here? The wayback tool shows a number of different timestamps where the site is visible in some form or another but I'm not seeing specific stamps saying it was banned by google, or how are you guys using this?

    Thanks!

You can get other 10 year old domains from expired godaddy auctions for less and that are indexed. There isn't much value in wasting $25 on this domain, especially if it was deindexed for a reason.
