SEO - Why is this site nr. 1 in Google?

Do you have a site you want it compared to? They have SOME back links, keyword is mentioned 3 times in the title tag, not sure why it is ranked number one...

What do you mean there's not much help to get? Ever hear of the internet?

I'm no SEO expert but I would guess that it's the lack of quality competition that keeps it up there. Went down 4-5 pages and all I found was offer-generators with little or no relevant content. Secondly, #1 seems to be far more keyword-targetted in terms of titletags and description. Notice that they label their page as being about those three variations of the word, in comparasion to those below that mention the keyword once in a longer sentence of other keywords.

I would say that they appear as the most relevant site in a bunch of even crappier sites (and that you should be able to rock this search if you put in some work/time)

I have a good friend that runs a webshop that sells specially designed mailboxes in norway. He kicks some big company a** simply by being the only site that is just about that - mailboxes. When he launched I basically just told him about how he should describe his site, do internal links, name and describe pictures etc. He then added his site to 20-30 free directories (must be said though, norwegian directories aren't bombed by bad sites and actually provide some weight if you get accepted). Paid for google and yellow pages ads to get his name out. Got mentioned in a newspaper article or two + noticed a few blog posts about his products. It all came natural. A few months later he outranks the national post service and a few other large companies simply by being niche. These other sites probably has thousands of backlinks (we haven't been bothered to check), but all of them are about so much more aswell. He's only about that one thing - he's most relevant. And once google started trusting him they ranked him where he deserved to be

I guess that's kind of what's happening with your keyword as well. Difference being that this probably will be even easier to outrank (we had something like 150k results with some very known names on top).
