Duplicate content - how to proceed?

Portion of my website is based on a custom CMS system.
For example, by default url for each page that I create is /page/page-name.html
I do have ability to create custom URLs as such /aaaa-bbbb/page-name.html
Although the URL is different, page content is the same.
In order to avoid duplicate content I have configured canonical tag that points to /aaaa-bbbb/page-name.html. but I've noticed that Google indexed both pages.
I have setup 301 from /page/page-name.html to /aaaa-bbbb/page-name.html.
Should I block /page/page-name.html in robots.txt so that it doesn't show up in in search results?
