Hi warriors. I recently added the code for 301 redirection (from non www site to www site) . How could i check if redirection was successful? How long would it take for google to stablize my serp? i read somewhere that when 301 redirection occurs, page rank would drop tremendously. Thanks a ton!

Good question, well with Google, it will take a looooooong time...LOL

How about looking into your referrer stats and see if there is a ./ for a direct link referrer or www.

    I'm just guessing, LOL

    Take care,

    Bernard

To check If the redirect code is valid is easy, just create a new backlink anyplace on the net, without www.

    http://yourdomain.com/

    It should return

http://www.yourdomain.com/ in your browsers address bar, notice the www in the last backlink.

OMG .. when i added the backlink with www, it would show the non www site in my browsers address bar. does this mean what i did is redirecting www to non www? .. which is better, redirecting www to non www site or the other way around? .. sorry, im not good with seo stuff, btw thanks yukon

It doesn't matter as far as seo.

You need to pick which one you prefer & stay with it.

Example If you want www.domain.com then you need to always make your links with www, that means all internal links & external backlinks pointing to your site.

If you have the redirect working, then it's going to correct it anyways, still it's a good idea to keep creating a consistent url.
