Can a blog that promotes an affiliate product like this blog:

Tinnitus Relief

reach page 1 of google search results if 5-10 dofollow backlinks are added to this blog every day BUT no new content is ever added to the blog?

Why or why not?

Thanks warriors!

No kidding. I'm reminded of why I come here less and less. If it's not a WSO leadup post, or a help pimp, it's some third worlder that picks random words out of a dictionary to ask a question or posts the top 10 things you need to know about SEO to get the post count up. There used to be a lot more meat on the bone here.

You better get a Privacy Policy on that blogspot before you get banned from Adsense.

    Just a heads up...

Yah, as long as you add quality backlinks, it could be done. However, since there is little content he can only optimize a few keywords and therefore very little traffic to the site.

when you guys say quality backlinks and the right backlinks, can you elaborate on that?

do I get any juice if I just post relavant quality comments on dofollow blogs? Do they necessarily need to be comments on blogs from my niche or can I comment on blogs from other niches with relevant comments and still get some juice?

A backlink is a backlink. I don't believe it really matters if it is in your niche or not, other people will say it does, but I don't think it makes much difference. A blog comment is a blog comment, I wouldn't count on much link juice from it at all. You need to find some high pr blogs, and comment with something relevant so it gets approved, and get some link juice that way. Unfortunately most links you find here have already been spammed to death.

A backlink is a backlink...not quite that's oversimplified. You're right about the blog not needing to be in your niche - Google doesn't look at website topics. You only need to use anchor text to make a backlink relevant. If you can get non nofollow ("dofollow) links with anchor text from blog comments then you're going to have some good backlinks on your hands. If you can get high PR too that's great, but PR ≠ ranking.
