Any advice on SEO for my site?

My site aygabtu.com, which focuses around support for Storm8 games, is an acronym for All Your Game Are Belong To Us, which I've replace the original phrase 'Base' with 'Game'. I did this not knowing much about SEO and since launching the site about 3 months ago, I've come to realize maybe that was a mistake.

We are getting good traffic and a lot of repeat/loyal users, but traffic from search engines leaves a lot to be desired.

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you are building repeat and loyal users, I think you already understand the big secret to seo. I would suggest you keep doing what you are doing, and keep expanding your content. Don't monkey with the on page SEO too much. Instead, keep growing your site, and keep working on building user loyalty. The rest will come in time.

As mentioned above, make sure that you are getting lots of traffic. Do you have a referral program in place because this may help build you loyal customers and bring new ones in as well. That's one good way, also work with on site seo because this will help the search engine pick your site up when certain terms are searched.

A simple place to start would be to find the keyword phrase that you would like to rank for. If you are not familiar with this, then I'll give you the quick system. Do a search on google for the google keyword tool. Once there enter a general keyword that you would like to have associated with your site. For example if my site was on guitars, I might just enter the word video games or if I wanted more specific results I might enter storm 8 games. When it comes to picking keywords to optimize your website around you really want to be sure that the words you pick will bring users who turn into customers. Another good way to get some keyword ideas is to go to Alexa.com and do a search for your most relevant competitor's website, then look at the "Search Analytics" tab and you can see the keywords that are bringing users to their website.

Once you have some keywords you will want to size up the competition for those words. You can find out more about that by researching "Keyword Competition" on this forum.

Once you've picked the main keyword that you would want to associate with your site, then you need to add it to the meta tags on the home page. Also, pepper the phrase into the content of the home page and if possible stick it between an h1 2 or 3 tag. Don't go crazy with this and make your site look spammy - if it fits great - if not don't sweat it.

Final step - get a bunch of backlinks on other people's websites that have your keyword in the anchor text. But be sure to research the whole backlinking thing before you go too crazy

      Hope this wasn't too basic...

I am seeing about 600 unique users a day, 29% new visitors, with about 100 coming from google. Google analytics shows over 42 minutes time on site and 26 pages/visit(this is partially due to jquery on the calculator pages), bounce rate is 6%.

My problem is I need to increase new eyeballs and traffic. Once they come, they tend to stay. Maybe my niche isn't that big? I've read about article writing, but what can you write about for a gaming calculator site?

On backlinks, I find this to be a huge chore and challenge. I don't want to post my link out on just any message board, and even if I did, that would require a lot of new accounts and periodic visits to those forums, etc to keep up with them.

Has anyone looked at my site or done any SEO analysis to see what areas I can improve on?

Thank you to everyone who has provided a response so far!

I looked at your site and it really all depends on the keywords that you are optimizing for. SEO and traffic generation is a bit of a pandora's box and once you open it there is quite a bit of info to sort thru. I think the best advice is to start researching the forum and see how deep you want to go.

There are lots of tools to help automate tasks like backlinking as well people you can hire pretty cheap.

It's actually impossible to say whether your site is well optimized or not because you have to first decide on what keyword phrase you are going to optimize for. And as I said in my earlier post, that requires keyword research (to find what people are searching for) and competition analysis to see how competitive your keywords are - make sense?

Forgot to mention that, the your site's "on-page optimization" i.e. whether you have your keyword in the title, h1, etc is really the least important factor though it does help a bit.

As far as the cliff notes go - it's all about the backlinks and the competition of the phrase you are optimizing for. Like I said it's a Pandora's box, and you are already in a good spot as you have a fairly sizable traffic base that is engaged. Now take some time to learn about traffic generation.

Does the entire site have to target certain words, or can it be by page? With 9 Storm8 games and adding other game codes for other games, I can't fit all the game names in. I can however, make each calculator page, for example, target keywords related to that particular game. Will this hurt my site overall when it comes to indexing and what do you think I should do for the homepage since I can't list them all?

Definitely do it page by page. That's what on-page SEO is all about. Make sure each page has your target keywords in the title, h1 or h2 etc.

Pick 1 or 2 phrases for your homepage but above all make your homepage title compelling i.e. if you stuff too many words in the home page it's going to look like a bunch of spam to anyone who comes across your listing in google. Now, if you are shooting for Storm 8 Calculator and Game Codes then you are probably good to go - i.e. no need to change it too much.

And then you want to start getting backlinks (with keyword anchor text) to both your homepage and other inner pages.

Forgot to ask...what you mean by a referral program?

I think, as already mentioned, that if you are getting repeat customers all the time, then eventually you will start to see organic traffic. Repeat customers are the hardest to obtain and ALL of us marketers love them because of their referral rate. The only SEO you should focus on is the "title" tags on your pages. Make sure they are what the page is truly meant to be about, the rest will come naturally. Good job!

I highly suggest you make sure that your H1 and H2 tags and your meta tags reflect the keywords you are trying to rank for. Then just concentrate on High PR and related Backlinks to your site. Good luck. Next time go for a domain name that is reflective of your site.
