People Behind Websites

I like the concept about sites like about.org where they allow you to build a profile page, with some content that links back to your site.

.. and I also like to read interviews from people who are out there innovating, designing and making a difference on the net.

I thought of combining the two together. Having a profile about your website and sharing an inspirational story about yourself with your audience.

I called the site peoplebehindwebsites.com - check it out, and fill out the contact form at the botton of the page if you're interested in adding your site to it!

All feedback is also welcomed!

Cheers

Interesting concept. I'd certainly have a look at it. But I'm not sure how often you'd get return traffic once the novelty's worn off...

    Just my 2 cents..

Thats a very interesting concept indeed. Its a good combination, what i do recommend you if you are going to develop this futher is to create a good infrastructure. Which will save you lots of time at the end. I think this concept has the potential to go viral if the right people find your site very interesting.

I hope you succeed with this concept! Haaha and never forget to have fun (almost forgot to write that phrase :p)

Thanks for the feedback guys, both are appreciated.

@mindcracking: you're spot on, I learned a lot during the first 3 interviews, albeit the first interview was me. The important thing was that the whole process needed to be streamlined and automated to a point where it takes a short time to get interviews published.

That's the reason why I went for more of a static approach with the format of the questions. Once answered, I'll just need to make some small edits before publishing it. Of course this process will fail if I'm getting thousands of people showing their interests. I'm not expecting that to happen soon though.

Fun is THE keyword to what I do! ... It's all a bit fun isn't it. Hope you're having fun over there as well pal

Like derekjansen said, you probably won't be getting much returning traffic... But that doesn't mean you can't build up one HELLUVA list! And you'll know they're niches and interests... Obviously!

Pretty cool idea IMO and I say DO IT!

      CHEERS!

P.s. I'm not an email list opt-in type of guy... So if the list isn't a good idea then just disregard LOL!

Update: Thanks for getting in touch with me guys. I've already published two recent interviews and I'm currently working on a third to get up on there shortly.

If you see value in it, please go down to the bottom left of the site to add your website.

    Cheers

Interesting indeed. I think that you will get more out of it if you can have an in-depth story about people. That way, it will be like the Wikipedia of website owners. It can be a pretty good resource especially if you can include contact information.

I like the inspirational angle of the site. Maybe some people who are afraid to take action would find it and get that push to at least put a toe in the water. Not sure how many marketers would take you up on the offer without thinking of getting an easy backlink.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Great idea! I see a lot of potential in this. It really personalizes the web in these days of so many seeking anonymity in their online business.

But, on the other hand, there is the success of Facebook, where your life is an open book!

I think peoplebehindwebsites will do a lot to increase the trust factor between readers and website owners.

      Good luck with this!

Thanks for the positive replies about the website. I hope that more of you could spare the 30 minutes it takes to take part in an interview.

The benefits of doing so are:
        1. Manage your reputation on the Internet
        2. Control what people see in the search engine results page. As part of my job, I'll rank your page high in the SERPs
        3. Build quality back links to your website
        4. Attract motivated people to your site, who will be more willing to buy / subscribe to you or engage with you
        5. To inspire others to achieve the same level of success you've achieved

Truth be told, People Behind Websites is not for everyone. If you'd rather stay anonymous to your visitors to your site, this isn't for you. If you're looking to engage people, inspire people and to have people trust you - this might be just the thing you're looking for.

        Cheers,
