How many Adsense ads in one page?

Hi guys,
I just put my first adsense ad on my new website, things are coming along well. I was wondering though, how many ads are the norm when putting ads in a blog?:confused:
So far I only have one blog post, it's of a decent length, has a nice image in it, and of course the 1 ad I just put in. I know many of you have loads of successfull adsense sites and are experienced in optimizing them visually. I was hoping you will assist me with this as I am a newbie.
Could you guys visit it and let me know what you think?

    Your ads aren't very prominent, to my eyes.

    I'd recommend a large rectangular ad-unit at the top of each post-page's main content area.

    On my AdSense sites, I've had most success with using 1 big ad-unit (336x280) at the top-left of each page's main content area, and 2 link-units - one in the side-bar, and a horizontal one at the bottom of each page's content.

    From memory, AdSense policies state that you're allowed 3 ad-units, 3 link-units and 2 search-boxes per page - so you might want to try swapping and changing the formats, positions and colour-schemes until you've determined for yourself what works best on your site. Testing is key, here.

      I'd agree with this - though I have had more success moving the bottom link unit into the mid point of the article.

    I have just visited your site and couldn't see any Google ads hosted over there. I assume you will be hosting a leader board banner next to below your header and a text link at the bottom. I have hosted only two Google ads in my site and it gives good CTR.

      3 banner/text box ads

      3 link ads

      2 search boxes.

      That is the maximum as you must be aware of.

      Now, depending on how fast the other elements on your page load, you could use all of those.

      Typically, if your site is new, you should use a maximum of 1 or 2 ad units.

      3 link units and 1 search unit should be fine with that.

        I'd definitely try a 728x90 leader board at the top of the article and a 336x280 in the article body itself.

    I would suggest that the content must have two links and also the ads must be informative to the visitors.

    Here's an example of what I think is a clean, good looking site with *prominent* Adsense ads.

    Recycled Bugs

    It's my site and my theme, and I have had good success with it. You might want to try a similar layout.
