  That's why you say upfront 1 - 3 months, depending on competition, sometimes even up to 6 months+.

You'd better change his expectations. One week??? Or, use the money he paid you towards an Adwords Campaign, bid high, and show him he has the number 1 spot. That might buy you another week.... It's too bad some people in the industry convince customers that PPC = SEO.

You have to understand, there's on-page SEO AND off-page. Doing just backlinks typically won't move your site much, if at all (depending on your competition of course).

Write more content on your site, get that content indexed, THEN build links. Wait. Write more content on your site, get that content indexed THEN build links. wait. ok? Try it.

65 backlinks showing up in Yahoo! Site Explorer.... No Bueno! Are you using Anchor Text when creating your backlinks?! B/C that's pretty important too...

It's all about the On-Site and Off-Site SEO! If your On-Site sucks... It will take a LOT more than 65 Blinks to get you ranked high in the SERPs... That's where Anchor Text comes in!!

Hi Annette,
When I looked at your site's backlink profile (you as the site owner will have the best stats from Google in your webmasters account) using an external tool, I see that you have a lot of links from websiden.net

It is important to have backlinks from a diverse set of domains (better if niche related). Do not worry about follow or nofollow links. Make sure they are from good strong domains.

Do not keep building links to just your site home page. Ensure that you are building links to inner pages as well.

As pointed above, the content you write (say articles) should be put on your own site first under Resources section. Then syndicate it to the rest of the web.

No. Just focus on Anchor Text and diversified backlinks: NoDoFollow, Blog Comments, Article Submissions (relevant or irrelevant doesn't matter), RSS Feeds submitted to Aggregators, Social Bookmarking (Ping.fm & Onlywire.com), Pingler.com for Pinging, etc.

I'll submit the same d@mn article to 20 different Article Directories for the simple fact of getting some good backlinks... I'm not into article marketing so duplicate articles in different directories means nothing to me LOL!

try to use twitter and facebook.

use also 3rd party to twitter and set the recurring or use also twitterfeed to syndicate not just in twitter but also facebook.

try different platforms of all social media sites.

My advice would be keep building backlinks and plan on this taking at least 1 month before any changes will be noticed, it takes time. Mix the link building as Scott says, and it will get you results.
