Well your ranked 8th in Yahoo for that keyword. How fast have you been building your backlinks? Have you done anything that Google might see as worthy of sandboxing?

it is good idea to continue to build links, submit few articles every week and you will get back on track

Where exactly are you building these links at? Are they high quality links, or just a quick spammy comment? Your answer to this is in the details.

Once you get sandboxed, is there no way back?
I think I might have been pnealized a bit as well. Nothing too bad, but can I return?
Or one you get sandboxed, are you on Google's sh*t list?

I'd try to find out exactly why Google decided to sandbox you, and consider it a learning experience.

This happens to some of my sites quite often.

I have one site on the first page of google (number 6 currently) and it has been "sandboxed" for 2 weeks before returning yesterday. It does this from time to time.

There is no worry. Just keep doing what your doing. DO NOT STOP BUILDING BACKLINKS!

Google wants your links to look NATURAL, is it natural to go from getting backlinks nearly every day to then go to getting zero for extended amounts of time? No!

If anything you might throw in a few more backlinks everyday!

Just keep working and your site will be back soon enough.

    Good Luck

It is thought that the reason Google created the Sandbox new site filter was to stop spam related sites from adding numerous purchased links--and ranking highly for their keywords from the date of launch. Since Google apparently considers a high number of links pointing to a site from the beginning to be rather suspicious, the links are not considered to be natural. Another possibility is spam sites would use various tactics to rise to the top of the search results, and gain heavy sales prior to being banned for being in violation of Google's Terms of Service; and then repeating the process continually. As a result, new sites are put into a form of probation, usually referred to as the Google Sandbox.

I disagree with this. Google understands that you can't CONTROL who LINKS to you. Matt Cutts has even said this in an interview (see youtube).

Remember, google considers backlinks as "votes" for your sites ...

Just as if your running for an elected office, you can't CONTROL who "votes" for you.

        Just my 2 cents.

I don't know how accurate this page rank checker is:

Pagerank checker :Google SERPs checker: results many countries Google Pagerank SERPs index results web SEO tools

but I see your site has 4 pages ranked at #233, #268, #427, and #428

I'm pretty much a newbie and have two Amazon sites which have done exactly the same thing. I successfully got my first site to rank at between #2 and #3 in Google using, first, a 40 profile backlinks package I had purchased and then afterwards, with a mixed 80 backlink blog/article/video package. The website stayed in that position for about a month and a half before doing the Google Dance for about another month, but now seems to have settled into being ranked at #131. My second site which was still climbing up Google and had reached about #12 after only purchasing the 40 profile backlinks package was also relegated at the same time to #401.

I did purchase another 40 profile backlinks for the first site just as it started to dance, but as you say, I guess I should continue with the backlinking. Would you suggest diversifying these backlinks more? Also, when this drop occurs, should more content be added? My sites are simple 10 post blogs which I was hoping to setup and then more or less move on and start a new one, which is what I'm currently doing. As this is still a learning game to me, I guess this assumption was wrong.

Yep, just hang in there and keep building and it'll appear again. Google is just deciding what position your site should have, it's quite common when you are building backlinks.

This is true, as each time my site re-appears it is nearly always at a higher position than before. For example this last time it went from being number 8 then disappearing for 2 weeks then back to number 6 (even though I have been ranked at six before, but slid down).

        Just keep pluggin

Looks to me like its just a Google dance, give it a week or so and your site will go right back up.

Your website is still indexed in Google. This happens to some of my sites too. There is no cause for panic. Most probably it's Google dancing. Continue to build quality backlinks to it everyday & it will return.

    Cheers.

lol i have a sight thats about 2 months old now...been as high as #3. Then all of a sudden i was 94th. A couple days later i bounce from 6 to 11.. Just too many people that want to make money on the internet messin things up!!! LOL i think they should have 2 internets. One for advertising and one for informational stuff! Hmmm interesting idea atleast!

    • Don't stress. You're not sandboxed if you can still type in the domain into google and see your site. Just give it some time. Remember they just had a big algo change as well, so a lot of sites are jumping around a bit.

    first time vanishing from Google?
A screwed up feeling, fer sure.
If you panic, panic towards other avenues of traffic. Create a facebook page and build a following. Maybe make a few videos on home heater safety. We know how dangerous heaters can be. Google is fine and all, but it should be a rather small percentage of your traffic, especially in long tail keywords since the search volume is low to start.

No worries on your site vanishing. It will come back somewhere in the muck. FYI; I have noticed sites with a lot of affiliate links on the home page sinking down the SERPs lately.

If it needs to come back soon, get a link (somehow) from a trusted site. I've found that a single link from an aged PR3/4 homepage got my sites back on page one within a week.

Had same problem with a video, can this happen with videos in youtube?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3230637].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author neilshearing
The inclusion of videos is part of Google's Universal results, so I don't think they can be sandboxed or penalised. It just depends on whether Google "thinks" videos should be shown in response to any particular search.

Forget about the sandbox, whether your site is in it and whether it exists or not. It's a distraction.

SEO is about patience. It can take a few months or longer to rank and stay ranked. Keep building backlinks and while you're waiting for your first site to rank, either build more sites or build the quality of your first site.

Just be patient and keep building.
