A question about backlinks......

hi there, trying to figure some ways to build backlinks to my hub pages - if I linked for example two ezine articles to the hub page, would that be considered as 2 backlinks or 1 as they are both from the same site?

So just trying to work out if I need many different backlink sources or if I can generate many from the same directory or web property?

thanks if anyone can help.

It is my understanding that one link or 10 links from the same domain carry the same weight. You'll likely want to get backlinks from multiple locations.

Thanks Kev, I did initially think the same. I am even more confused now as I have just been reading in google that any number of links from the same domain would be counted?

      does anyone else know?

It has been my experience, and I have heard it often said, that a link is a link no matter what. In several cases I have obtained page 1 rankings by having a link in a forum signature, and with no other link building. If Google saw these links as a single link then this would have not occurred.

The real issue, is what are your competitors doing with their linking. i.e. if they just have a few links, then multiple links from a single domain will be enough to surpass them. Odds are Google does probably prefer when the links are coming from multiple websites, but as I far as I have seen a link is a link.

        Hope this helps...

          Hi Moneyland,
One of the key factors in ranking well on Google is the domain diversity when it comes to source of backlinks.

It is good to have backlinks from a variety of sites of different types (as in blog posts, comments, forum signatures, article directories etc)

If you have backlinks from various powerful domains and if they are all related to your niche, then it can work wonders.

There is a "diminishing returns" filter in the Google algo (ancient news).

    10 links from domain A = whatever
    20 links from domain A = less
    30 links from domain A = worse

Then of course making the those links dofollow.....well that is another story.

It's 2 backlinks. They are coming from separate pages on that domain.

As already mentioned backlinks should be diverse. More than one backlinks from same domain does no harm either.

hubpage can be get indexed in a matter of minutes and you can use SB link to it. if i can get EZ links, i would point it to my money sites instead better than hubpage

Just like Kev said... But I would pick the most relevant keyword phrase from both ezine and hub pages. Make sure they are identical keywords so that way you can show close to as relevance as possible. It will make a difference..
