Recipricol Linking - Worth the effort in your opinion?

Hello Warriors,

Hope everyone is well and working hard!

I just wanted to ask your opinion in terms of reciprocal links, I recently started a dam difficult niche and need to start promoting it big time.

My question is, do you think it is worth my time to add my site to a few online directories - the ones that ask for a reciprocal link?

How do you feel about this and would my time be better spent rather creating backlinks that do not require reciprocal, they would be better and more powerful right?

Also, with all the outgoing links could it affect my site negatively if I were to have 20 or 30 reciprocal links on a domain.com/resources page?

    I used to give reciprocals to directories - now I don't do that anymore; there are just so many possibilities out there(article marketing, blog commenting, social bookmarking) that will give you one-way links that I only reciprocate with sites from my niche.

    20-30 reciprocals in your "links" page is nothing in my opinion; I have a site where this page is filled with 200+ outgoing links; and the inner page is a PR 2 plus the whole site ranks well.

    The reciprocal links don't work. Many people still go for such links. But it is waste of time I believe.

    In fact link building is a complex yet simple process and very few people know about it.

    I would not give a recopricol link to a directory. If it's a high authority site in your niche however, it's worth it.

    Ive viewed my competitors links and all he has are reciprocal links and i have over 2000 links but cant beat him to the number one spot...yet!

    In my opinion they do have some effect even though i was taught not to bother with them?!

      Very interesting, glad to see another sort of reply. I am still not sure, but thinking about it logically it seems like one way links would be more beneficial, that is also what I have learnt and been taught.
