How to make money from Adsense?

I'm new to this site and I've been a bit strapped for cash recently. I was seriously contemplating setting up a free blog (For now) and using Adsense Ads to bring in a bit of revenue. Only things I'm struggling with are what the blog should be about, how to 'encourage' people to click on the ads and the most effective way to bring in traffic without paying.

I don't want to be mega rich off this, just enough to have a little additional money for bills or to treat myself now and again.

Any help/guidance would be seriously appreciated.

The only things you are struggling with is ....everything.

-Choose a niche - that's what your site will be about
-Learn to research keywords and keyword phrases
-Learn to build a blog or site
-Adsense approval if you don't have that as yet

-READ and UNDERSTAND the terms and conditions of adsense (which includes not encouraging people to click) before you put in on the first site.

-Learn to get traffic - backlinks, articles, promotion, etc

The search function on this forum (in the red line above - use the "advanced search") will help you find instructions and advice on every one of those topics.

Dig in and start reading and learning...and then start doing.

Don't hold your breath. Adsense requires tons of content and traffic from what I have seen.

The problem for me is finding a subject I am passionate about but one that hasn't been done to death. My computer is slowly dying and I am looking to raise funds to purchase the parts and build my own and at this moment in time, I believe that some sort of blog or website would be the best option for me.

EDIT: One of the only things I can think of that I'm interested in is football (soccer) but there's already loads of websites and blogs about that.

Just do it better than the others... never shy away from competition.

Oh and Never "encourage people to click the ads"

You're passionate about soccer, write about that!
It's important you write about stuff you know about, care about and love so it will look and read like something true and from the heart, not like a "job" or pain. If soccer is something done to death and you can't compete for, write about sub-subjects of soccer you know about and love to talk/write.

Look for keywords (exact) you can compete for (Google keyword tool) about thing surrounding soccer that haven't been done yet or not done to death and write about that. The possibilities are really endless in such a big subject/niche.

      Good Luck!

      • I defnitely think its tough to make good money with adsense, try and setup a cheap PPC campaign and work from there.

PS: make sure that your landing is adsense ready , and well setup to get a good click through rate

You should search for good keywords for your site. For this you should use Adword key tool of Google.

Find such a long tail key word which have good search value and Estimated Avg. CPC.

Then use that keyword to site URL.

Then post unique, error free articles. Then do some SEO for your site. Use Adsense in your site.

    I hope it will work.

I was going to ask, what ARE you interested in? I was going to ask if there's a sport you like. So it's soccer. Do that. So what if there's a lot of other soccer blogs. Be different. Maybe one on your favorite team. Look beyond what the others are doing. Let people know, if they like it, they'll come back, tell their friends. Build up a following. You won't make a whole lot of money but at least you'll be doing something you know something about and you may even have fun doing it.

Adsense is okay, just use it as another string to your bow in your
marketing business. It takes time to build a decent revenue, some
people will tell you to get 100 sites up and running, small sites with
about 10 pages. Other people will tell you to go for one site and build
it up to 2500 pages and monetize every page.

Just get a couple of small sites up and running, while you try other
methods of marketing, come back to them each month to see how
they are performing and try testing and tweaking. You only learn by
just doing, don't take to long over getting the pefect site setup, you
only really learn what works or doesn't work by just doing it. Thats
    the best teacher.

Thanks for the replies guys. It all helps. I'm going to start a blog on soccer, more specifically focus on one particular league and try to build up my content, get more traffic and go from there.

EDIT: Does anyone have any useful free guides on SEO? All the ones that came up in the search results cost and I don't have any money to work with at the moment. Thanks.

You can create a blog about anythings. If you are interested about sports then you can create a blog about sports, if you interested about movie or songs then you can create a blog about music or movie related etc. etc.

Then you need to optimize your blog for search engine. It looks like you are new about SEO. ok... just forget about SEO right now. juts update your blog daily.

Finally you should remember that, don't encourage others to do that activity. Read Adsense TOS carefully. I hope you your success.

Let's me honest... you didn't do a marketing plan... you don't know your target market... and you just want to get rich with out doing the work... You should go to your local SBA and they can help you with a business plan, marketing plan, and if you have a good idea, then you might get a loan from your local bank.

I would also like to encourage you to work on your favorite subject(soccer). It's a fact that there is so much of competition in this field. But if you are passionate about it and want to really do something. You can also come up with new ideas. You could have totally different content on your blog/site. It's a matter of interest, and commitment. You have to be totally committed, and work hard. One day, you'll get your desired results. Don't lose hope and walk away from the spot, saying "there's so much of competition here, I can't stand here". You can do it. Just trust yourself.

Good luck dude. I think adsense is a good way to get your feet wet in IM. But just be aware, that you may need to setup many sites before you get to the income level that you want.

Content and niches has been a sticking point for me as well. What I suggest is to use article writers to get your contents. I know you might be afraid paying for articles when you are just starting out, but in the long run, it would be beneficial because it removes a roadblock towards your goal.
