Adsense - Affiliate Product - Or Both!

I have some Adsense sites that are for Adsense only and I have some Affiliate sites that are for Affiliate products only.

Has anyone had any success having both Adsense and an Affiliate product on a site? I am working on a site now that I bought the domain for a couple of months ago and decided not to use it at the time. I'm using it now and I'm really undecided with this one whether to use Adsense or an Affiliate product - or both.

So I guess my question is - would it have a negative effect to have both on the site?

I don't honestly believe it would make a difference Sheryl.
I have seen a lot of sites with this type of advertising. banners, adsense ads etc
I don't see why you shouldn't give it a go

LOL - no you don't want it at 666

Thanks Will - I was just wondering if having Adsense ads would lessen the sales rate of the Affiliate product and vice versa. But at the same time I think if someone wanted to buy the product they would regardless of Adsense ads on the site.

I usually stick to one or the other but with this niche I just wasn't sure. I think I might try it with both and see how it goes. I can always remove one at a later stage if it isn't working.

      Hi Sheryl,
Yes exactly. I don't know if it would really effect the affiliate sales. I don't think it would but all you could really do there is test it and see.

      I wish you much success!

The only potential problem you'll have is if you are relying on product sales to pay the bills.

As you know, with adsense, once they have clicked the ad, you get your $.05 and you've probably lost that potential customer forever. So the adsense ads are potentially costing you a sale with a larger commission.

On the flip-side, it' easier to get an adsense click than it is to get somebody to whip out their credit card.

That's the downside of mixing up ad's with products as I see it.

This is definitely a case where you REALLY should test each and not both at the same time first and then finally test both at the same time. You just need an ad serving script or plugin if your using wordpress along with some analytics.

I'm not relying on this site to pay the bills, I actually bought this for an Adsense site but then realized the average CPC wasn't very high so it probably wasn't worthwhile. There is a Clickbank product related to the site, but because the keywords are more toward searching for information I don't know that it is good enough for promoting a product.

I might leave both on there for now and see how it goes and if I'm not seeing results either way then I might change and test each individually.
