Building My Own Blog Network Do I Need...

So over the next few months I am going to play around with building a blog network of 100 sites all in the same niche. Each blog focused around a long tail keyword and linking to my main money site within the content. My money site will NOT link back to any of the sites in the blog network.

My staff will build backlinks to boost the sites PR to each blog and ranking.

My main concern is with google de-indexing or de-valuing the sites because they are hosted on a single IP

Some say networks of 100 sites should be safe since most hosting companies host several hundred sites on the same IP.

Has anyone done this and should I be splitting the sites up across several different C-classes?

Thanks

It would be better if you hosted on a site like seohosting.com (no affiliate link) where your network of sites get distributed to not leave a footprint with multiple C class IP addresses. You would not want to host them on the same server. It is not good in the long run.

Another problem you may have is in trying to build the PR of the new blog sites for long tail keywords is that these sites can rise in prominence over time and they all point to your money site. You have to ensure that the site design is as unique as possible for each site than just cloning one site into 99 other sites. The major search engines are very good at analyzing relationships and the slightest slip can give it away.

I am not painting a scary scenario but for a project of this scale, it pays to be careful

I would also recommend not using the same adsense account...if that is your revenue stream on all of the sites...either create a new account under a new business name..or use a different revenue stream

    Thanks for the reply,

raviv: yeah you're right it probably is safer in the long run, I have just heard a few of the gurus say that 100+ sites should be fine on the same c class... its when you get into the 1000's you need to spread them all out.

Host gator offers seo hosting too I think so maybe build the first 50 on my correct account and if all goes to plan, set up the additional 50 on a different c class.

quantump: Yeah these blogs are all just for home page backlinks to my money site with the added benefit of targeted traffic since they will all be SEO'd for their long tail keyword related to my niche.

Probably wont start seeing the best results with these sites for about a year after they are set up and wont get the true benefit until their two years... its a long term plan to keep me at the top of my niche

Sorry... "blog network" and "they are hosted on a single IP" are mutually exclusive. I hope you don't even remotely think about interlinking any of them.

As for true, multiple IP (location) SEO hosting...there is more to it than simply them being on a different IP. *Sometimes* so called SEO hosters use different IPs, but then make the FATAL mistake to use ONE and the same DNS to serve all the IPs.

Google is not stupid, you know.

Definitely need dedicated IPs for these if you want the maximum benefits...

    Hey Georg,

None of the blogs I create will link to one another... only have links pointing to my money sites in the same niche... none of the money sites will ever link back to any of the blogs.. I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing.

If I pay for professional SEO hosting the c classes should never be on the same IP block... I plan on using a reputable company.

I'm thinking that it might be a bigger issue having the domains all created on a single account under a single identity. Might even take it a step further and have a few domain accounts set up... I hear google only cares for much larger blog networks so not too concerned, just like to play safe.

Hi Derek, My name is Paul Edwards and i am fairly new to internet marketing, how ever i have quite quickly built up a mediocre knowledge of seo, i was just reading your post about hosting 100 blogs over multipule ip address's, i am not quite at this stage yet but i have so far bought 20 pr sites of 2-4 and am currently having the wordpress blog installed on them, i was wondering if you do the same thing with regards to buying the pr sites specific to you niche, and if you do, do you know how to make sure you do not lose any of the pr when you buy the site and install the wordpress to the site, also do you have any tips about where you can get good deals for pr sites already for sale.

Appreciate any info you could supply me with.

You should definitely get them on separate IP's.

We built a network platform for this very purpose. We will have an API too within a week. For now, you can manage all your WordPress blogs through our system at no cost. You can also post through our dashboard, queue articles through the dashboard, and it's very easy to get a virtual assistant to do that for you.

Don't let managing the domains overwhelm you. Focus on quality, link profiles, and not leaving big glaring footprints for Google to find.

As it was said above, work in your links through posts.. don't link out to all of them each time. You can supplement with posts w/out links, other guest posts, and so forth. The more you do inter-link the more important it is to cover your ass.
