My article backlinks not appearing but other author's are

Hi,
Of course everyone wonders "why aren't my ezine backlinks showing up on the google dashboard". The response is (a) Google analytics doesn't show all links and (b) You just have to wait, they'll show up eventually.

I understand that.

However, what is strange is that another author submitted articles not long before I did and all of his have shown up. In fact they showed up almost immediately and could be found using Yahoo SE, Google Analytics or AllTheWeb Site:.

But mine have been published for several weeks and. . . nothing. Nothing from GoArticles, EzineMark or EzineArticles have shown up as backlinks even though I know the search engines see the articles (by taking excerpts and quoting them into the search box).

I've used Yahoo, Google and AllTheWeb.

One thing I wondered: Should I use an alternate name. Do the SE's check author names against the registrar on the site to whom the link is pointing and penalize them if they match?

In my case they do match. That may seem like paranoia to some and smack-the-forehead naivete to others I guess. Should I pay the money to privatize the registration? Could this actually be the cause?

Thanks for any feedback.

I'm hoping it is. The first article appeared on the 12th. Another appeared on the 15th. More since then. In itself I wouldn't be surprised, it's just that the previous author's (SEO writer) showed up in a few days.

Again, it's certainly not the articles themselves which are hand written and have remained posted.

No; that'd be really silly, if you think about it.

If it were so, how incredibly easy would it be to circumvent the seach-engines attempts to "penalise you", simply by submitting your articles under a different author/pen-name (which most article directories allow)?

I completely agree with you regarding the simplicity of circumventing the check, but it is within the realm of possibility to perform it. We do know Google checks registrar records for known spammers and site age.
