Guest writing for SEO - What to offer?

I run a make money niche related blog and have just opened up for "guest posts".

Does one normally pay for guest posts?
Isn't offering an author byline with two dofollow links/anchors enough?

Reason I ask is that I am not getting the amount of guest posts as I had expected, so I wonder if I need to juice of the offer a bit.

Also, is there any ethical concers or TOS issue with offering guest authors to also include their Adsense code in the article?

    Uhm..this certainly depends on your blog. If you have some low PR blog PR0-PR3..i dont think that anyone would go gaga blogging "for free". Different story if it would have a PR6+ and gets significant traffic/exposure.

      GeorgR is spot on. Alot of blog owners allow guest posts, so there are alot of places for writers to choose from. If you have a low PR site that doesn't get much traffic, it's not particularly savory to guest writers. However, that doesn't mean it's impossible to get guest writers - and you certainly don't have to pay them!

      Why not offer (in addition to the links), a mention on your Twitter page, or having you bookmark their post on several of the popular bookmarking sites, or, if you have an email list, sending out a message telling everyone to come see the great guest post that John Doe wrote? Offering to do some promotion for them might make your opportunity a great one.

      If you want to get your guest blogging opportunity out there in front of a bunch of people, sign up for MyBlogGuest.com (no affiliation, but it seems like a great site). That way, you can actively look for guest posters, and encourage others to contact you.

    You should check out Guest blogging: Looking for guest bloggers or guest post? Join MyBlogGuest! - there's tons of people over there that are dying to get their guest post on your blog and it's all free.
