So I'm finally getting my feet wet in using Wordpress.

I just need some recommendations on a good hosting site and a domain registrar site, or a combo site that does both for cheap.

I'm a great fan of Hostgator plus GoDaddy as the registrar. I know GoDaddy keep trying to sell me stuff, but I find their domain management tools very useful indeed. Try to "start as you mean to go on", i.e pick a registrar who will be the best registrar for the business you intend to have, and a host who will have a plan to suit. Moving or dealing with more than one company would be a FAR worse pain than having something a tad dearer than you might be able to find to start with.

Read, sell, break up into articles, combine into bundles, and there are 250 of them, complete with MRR, here for a bargain price! I'm even throwing in the sales page. Only £37 for Warriors. http://www.250mrrproducts.com

    This is my experience:

HostGator : Domain is not free.
JustHost : Domain is free for a lifetime is included in Hosting cost.

JustHost : Not good if you run multiple blogs.
HostGator : More stable if run more than one blog.

JustHost is more cheap, but if you look for more stable than HostGator, but buy your domain somewhere else, as stated above.

GoDaddy is best for registering domains, since they make their money on other services registering domains is fairly cheap.

For hosting, in my 12yr experience with bad and ugly hosting services I have found my zen with MediaTemple

Can't believe how many people are suggesting Godaddy.

Godaddy is THE WORST for domains.

    Why?

Because they are over priced and their interface is slow, bulky, and crowded.
Also, they constantly try to up-sell you on everything in the world for all time.
    Its horrible.

    Good alternative?
    Namecheap!

    Cheap domains.
    Quick interface.
    No Bull****.

Godaddy might be bulky and try to sell you a lot of addons, but they have established trust and great customer support. Their pricing is not bad either with the coupons they constantly offer.

I would also never host your websites at your domain registrar. As far as hosting I have heard a lot of great stuff about hostgator.

There are a lot of web hosting company available today, it really depends on what you want. First you have to know your budget with the project and how far will you be able to go to extend your limit. A friend of mine who has a small business went to Pickaweb to ask help from them. Their services are ideal for individuals looking to publish their websites to the web in a quick and easy way. They include free web marketing video training to help you drive traffic to your website, 24/7 support team that you can call, email and chat whenever there's some concern.

check their site and you will be amaze of what that web host can offer. My friend has been working with them since then.

GoDaddy for domains (always look up promo codes) and HostGator for hosting. Avoid IXWebHosting.

    My highest recommendation:

    Hosting
HostGator (unlimited everything for $8.99 a month. Service and support cannot be beat)

    Domains
1and1 - Go for at least 2 year hosting terms for legitimacy and use your 1and1 affiliate link for every domain purchase you make to save an extra $2

For domain, i prefer using namecheap than GoDaddy, reason, GoDaddy domain does not come with /whois domain protection.

Namecheap domain has /whois domain protection and it is free.

This is why GoDaddy's domains are cheaper than Namecheap's. But in GoDaddy if you want to have /whois protection, you will have to pay much more than the namecheap's domain (+/whois protection).

I will go for namecheap for domain, definitely.

With private godaddy is not cheaper as some registrars give private for free. However, godaddy gives a $1 domain every month.

    hosting is hostgator...

domain name is netfirms for me...seems like their reputation is quite good and only $4.95 (when on offer) for each with privacy added! half of my domains are in godaddy, which is fine. but i find that netfirms is even faster...

Whatever you do, stay away from GoDaddy for hosting. I'm not real enthusiastic about them as a Registrar either. They've screwed up a lot when I hosted with them. They've also done a number on my domains as well.

      BlueHost and Hostgator are great.

      So is Lunarpages.

There are others that are decent as well. Customer service is the big thing.
