New Posts Indexed While Old Posts Are Not

Hi Warriors,

I did a 301 redirect from my blog not using the www prefix to using the prefix and since then my indexed pages dropped drastically. It is now about 1 month since i did the redirect.

Before the redirect, i had about 100 posts indexed but after the redirect i had about 12.

I have since done a lot of things to get Google to re-index the old posts without much success. I have pinged my sitemap, submitted my sitemap to some high social authority sites, re-submitted my sitemap to Google, continued to update my blog, inserted sitemap link on home page of my blog, indicated preferred domain in webmaster tools etc but only notice a slight improvement in indexing, to about 22 posts.

I however observe that each new post i make is swiftly indexed.

What can i do to get my old posts re-indexed.

Thanks.

  • Well,

Google likes to reset the number *shown* in Webmaster Tools. Are you sure the blog posts aren't still indexed if you search them in Google?

What's your domain and sitemap URLs? Are you sure your new sitemap contains correct URLs? And 301 redirects all work correctly?

If yes to both, and your blog posts truly gone from search index then... I dunno

    • No, they are not. I checked a sample of the blog posts in the Google index.

My domain/url is Profitable Business Ideas and my sitemap url is http://www.homebiz-supermarket.com/p...as/sitemap.xml

I also checked a sample of the url's in my sitemap and they are correct

I checked the 301 redirects for a sample of the blog posts urls in a 301 redirect checker tool and saw that they redirected properly.

      Thanks Sitemapper
  • Take all your blog post links and pur them into a rss feed here Links 2 RSS - Convert a list of URLs to RSS feeds

Then submit it to rss aggrigators. Then submit them all to ping fm and you should get them all reindexed pretty quick .

    • Thank you alexmw106,

      I'll try that again.
  • If new posts are indexed then it is easier to crawl on old pages too.just place the old pages links in the front page either bottom or sitewide etc.
