What do you use to compare yourself to your competitors as far as traffic?

I use this site, which you can get it to update every 15 days: Website value calculator and web information

My site was well behind my competitors, since they have more than a one year head start, but I have recently pulled ahead in the 1 week and 1 day time frames. If that trend continues the 3 month and 1 months will reflect that in a while also.

I do not focus on the traffic, unless you have analytics access no one will know. Some people use alexa rankings, I focus on a couple things:

    Total indexed pages
    Total backlinks
Total backlinks from unique domains with relevant content
Total links from high quality sites <- very important
    Social links

Bottom line - See what you competition is doing and do it better.

Spyfu is a decent tool to try out for some competitive insights. I am lucky to have comScore. Linkscape from seomoz is another great paid tool.

My competitors have been around a lot longer than me so they have hundreds of backlinks. Not necessarily quality links though. I do compare my ranking in the search engines, but alexa is the next best thing I have found. The site I linked to in my original post uses alexa information but gives more of a breakdown of recent trends. This is helpful for me because my 3 month stat is very high because of the newness of my site, but the 1 day and 1 week stats show I am making good headway.
