Google is retarded. Got some questions for SEO dudes

Alright, I bought some domains about two weeks ago, they're all .com's with the exact keyword as the domain.

I installed Wordpress and used Platinum SEO, Google XML sitemaps, Easy privacy policy, and installed Google analytics..

Added my content (2 articles to start, then one a day), all of it is unique, built backlinks and 3 out of 5 are on the first page within a few days. The competition for the keywords in phrase match " ".. is 1000-5000 for the keywords, so they ranked pretty easy.

I built about 150 profile backlinks to each domain with sick submitter, just targeting the root domain. I didn't ping any of them, I want Google to find them over time.

On top of the three ranking on the first page for the root domain, some of the posts ranked by themselves too, but not on page one.

Okay so here's the problem...

Two of the root domains with the specified META data, like the title and description shown in Google- are completely gone from the first page, but their subpages are still ranking on page two and such but with different meta data... and I only want to display the meta data i chose in platinum SEO.

Each subpage has it's own meta data..

So maybe if I go into each post and add meta data for it instead of letting it generate it by itself?

That's not the point though, I just want the root domains to be ranked because most of the subpages that are ranking aren't monetized...

Blah, if you have any comments or if you've dealt with this before I'd appreciate any help!

Thanks

You can't force google to do anything. Google may not trust it.
Many people think otherwise, but if they choose to show something
more relevant, or ignore it, they will do so.

Well, Google ranks PAGES not sites. First you want to check why your (sub) pages are ranking and not your main site. There must be a reason for this.

And yes, this is a common "problem" that sub-pages (with articles etc.) are getting rank...while the monetization only happens on the main page. But this is a BIG MISTAKE!

This is the reason that eg. on my sites i make sure to have banners/offers on all sub-pages and not only the main page. if you have a site with 200 articles....so what if 190 of the article pages rank and visitors land on the sub-pages with the articles - FOR NOTHING?

As in your case...i would simply continue link building to the main site...but somehow add offers/banners etc. to the sub pages also (or within the theme).

    1) First do a site:www.domain.com in Google & see If those pages are indexed.

    2) If they are not indexed in Google, look at your page source code for those missing pages & do a page search in your browser for the keyword noindex. If you find that keyword, then that's the problem.

    Hi DrFresh,

I think you may have some misconceptions about Google's search engine. It is not designed to give you what you want as a webmaster. It is designed to give its' users what they are looking for. Search engines do not index websites, they index individual pages. This is so a user can find the precise web document that contains the information that they seek.

Google will crawl and index your pages so that it knows exactly which page contains the information relevant to their users' search query. Google is going to send their users to the page with the most relevant information, not to your home page or money page.

I would suggest that you find a way monetize your other pages. Use those pages to promote your money pages, or sell ad space. You can't expect Google to misdirect their users so that you can exploit them for your own purposes.

Remember that google is an search engine its job is to maintain the sites in the first page that are well optimized and if you want to you must work hard for it.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

Since Google ranks pages.. vs. sites.. Doesn't Google consider my root domains to be "pages" too? it's got content from 5 posts/subpages.. And altogether more information and more keywords on it than any single post, because they're combined... anyways.

I've got an idea. I don't care about showing really relevant info in Google's eyes in this case, because it's for certain type of local business - so all I need for the surfers to see is the name of the companies, their addresses, and phone numbers.

I didn't specify too well earlier, none of it is monetized really, I'm just going to be charging monthly for advertising to businesses..

So my idea is to edit the header to display what I want with an iframe..

    business name
    address
    phone number
    Google maps

and whatever post that Google thinks is relevant will display below.
I actually already did this and it looks sweet, they don't even see the article unless they scroll down. So the business that I'm advertising for will be the first thing they look at, rather than some pointless article.. They're looking for someone to contact...

Alright, that's cleared up, I don't care which page ranks now, but I do care what the title and description say on Google.

So I set the meta data manually in Platinum SEO for all these posts/subpages.. all with slight variations, but two keywords in the title, and two in the description.. then 3 or 4 for tags

Will Google change what it displays in the SERPs for the title and description?

I remember a video from Google in the past year or so that they were talking about meta data.. and if they find a snippet of your page that is more relevant or keyword rich than your meta data than they'll display that instead..

I've had them change my manually set meta to something random on my sites before, but I'm just wondering if they'll change it from what they picked back to meta data after it's created.. ahhhhh
