Link with www. in it?

This might be a dumb question, and I couldn't find it posted anywhere else, but when I create a link, is it best to put the www in the link, or leave it out? Ex.

mywebsite.com *** or *** www.mywebsite.com
#search engine optimization #link #www
  • No, it's not a silly question
The search engines will take "domain.com" and "www.domain.com" as different pages. So out of the 2, only 1 gets listed. That means you have to decide whether you want to build links for "domain.com" or "www.domain.com"

The important thing is, what you choose, stick with it!

  • I suggest always using w's for one main reason. It's recognized as a link more often because some companies use their company name as with a dot com as part of the registered name. In the somewhat rare case that the page your link is on gets the text/content imported into a pdf, Adobe will create a link if the w's are there. If it's without the w's it will just be text.

Sorry, my post is hard to read cause I can't use URL examples since I'm new.

It wouldn't even let me put "w" three times in a row rofl...
